Allergic Contact Dermatitis due to Henna Tattoo with Secondary Infection

open access: yesBerkala Ilmu Kesehatan Kulit dan Kelamin (Periodical of Dermatology and Venerology), 2016
Background: Recently henna tattoo become popular. Incidence of allergic contact dermatitis due to henna tattoo is increasing. Para-phenylenediamine (PPD) is suspected as a contact sensitizer because it is often added to henna tattoo to make a darker ...

The role of the patch test in 2D atomistic-to-continuum coupling methods [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
For a general class of atomistic-to-continuum coupling methods, coupling multi-body interatomic potentials with a P1-finite element discretisation of Cauchy--Born nonlinear elasticity, this paper adresses the question whether patch test consistency (or ...

By dawn or dusk—how circadian timing rewrites bacterial infection outcomes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The circadian clock shapes immune function, yet its influence on infection outcomes is only beginning to be understood. This review highlights how circadian timing alters host responses to the bacterial pathogens Salmonella enterica, Listeria monocytogenes, and Streptococcus pneumoniae revealing that the effectiveness of immune defense depends not only

Clinical Relevance of Contact Allergy to Gold Sodium Thiosulphate in Fibromyalgia

open access: yesActa Dermato-Venereologica
Fibromyalgia is a chronic syndrome characterized by pain, fatigue, and cognitive disturbances. The increased prevalence of contact allergy to gold in individuals with fibromyalgia when compared with the general population has previously been described ...

Tranexamic acid-induced fixed drug eruption

open access: yesIndian Journal of Dermatology, 2015
A 33-year-old male showed multiple pigmented patches on his trunk and extremities after he took tranexamic acid for common cold. He stated that similar eruptions appeared when he was treated with tranexamic acid for influenza 10 months before. Patch test

The Caenorhabditis elegans DPF‐3 and human DPP4 have tripeptidyl peptidase activity

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The dipeptidyl peptidase IV (DPPIV) family comprises serine proteases classically defined by their ability to remove dipeptides from the N‐termini of substrates, a feature that gave the family its name. Here, we report the discovery of a previously unrecognized tripeptidyl peptidase activity in DPPIV family members from two different species.

Complexity growth rates for AdS black holes in massive gravity and $f(R)$ gravity

open access: yes, 2017
The "complexity = action" duality states that the quantum complexity is equal to the action of the stationary AdS black holes within the Wheeler-DeWitt patch at late time approximation.

Crosstalk between the ribosome quality control‐associated E3 ubiquitin ligases LTN1 and RNF10

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Loss of the E3 ligase LTN1, the ubiquitin‐like modifier UFM1, or the deubiquitinating enzyme UFSP2 disrupts endoplasmic reticulum–ribosome quality control (ER‐RQC), a pathway that removes stalled ribosomes and faulty proteins. This disruption may trigger a compensatory response to ER‐RQC defects, including increased expression of the E3 ligase RNF10 ...

Testing Holographic Conjectures of Complexity with Born-Infeld Black Holes

open access: yes, 2017
In this paper, we use Born-Infeld black holes to test two recent holographic conjectures of complexity, the "Complexity = Action" (CA) duality and "Complexity = Volume 2.0" (CV) duality. The complexity of a boundary state is identified with the action of
