Hamstring graft remodelling after ACL reconstruction is slower in paediatric population compared to adults

open access: yesKnee Surgery, Sports Traumatology, Arthroscopy, EarlyView.
Abstract Purpose Anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injuries are increasing in children and adolescents and reconstruction (ACLR) is now frequently performed in this population. Paediatric patients remain at higher risk of reinjury, possibly due to delayed graft remodelling.

Small, Short, Oblique Patellar Tunnels with Looped Graft Versus Suture Anchors for Patellar-Sided Graft Fixation During MPFL Reconstruction: A Study of Over 600 Knees

open access: yesOrthopaedic Journal of Sports Medicine
Background: There is a paucity of literature comparing clinical outcomes and complications between the use of 2 smaller (3.2 mm), short, oblique patellar tunnels with looped graft for patellar-sided graft fixation during medial patellofemoral ligament ...

Current concepts in isolated and combined injuries of the medial collateral ligament complex—Part I: Anatomy, biomechanics, clinical and radiological examination of the medial collateral ligament of the knee

open access: yesKnee Surgery, Sports Traumatology, Arthroscopy, EarlyView.
Abstract Injuries involving the medial collateral ligament (MCL), or combined injuries to both the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) and MCL, are common and present considerable diagnostic and therapeutic challenges. Better understanding of MCL anatomy and biomechanics, especially in combined ACL–MCL injuries, has driven the need for updated clinical ...

Specific functional knee phenotypes are associated with increased osteoarthritis progression: A ≥10‐year longitudinal study

open access: yesKnee Surgery, Sports Traumatology, Arthroscopy, EarlyView.
Abstract Purpose To evaluate osteoarthritis (OA) progression across functional knee phenotypes (FKPs) over a follow‐up period of ≥10 years. Methods This retrospective longitudinal study included 388 patients (764 knees) with healthy knees or early OA (Kellgren–Lawrence grade ≤1) at baseline and a minimum follow‐up of 10 years.

Improved function and patient satisfaction with fewer residual symptoms following kinematically versus mechanically aligned total knee arthroplasty: A retrospective study from FP‐UCBM Knee Study Group

open access: yesKnee Surgery, Sports Traumatology, Arthroscopy, EarlyView.
Abstract Purpose To compare residual symptoms, function and patient satisfaction following unrestricted kinematic alignment (KA) versus mechanical alignment (MA) in primary total knee arthroplasty (TKA). It was hypothesized that KA would reduce residual symptoms and improve function and satisfaction.

Clinical reasoning in feline non‐ambulatory tetraparesis or tetraplegia: Which combination of clinical information is useful?

open access: yesVeterinary Record, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Non‐ambulatory tetraparesis or tetraplegia in cats may constitute a diagnostic challenge for general practitioners. Therefore, this study aimed to evaluate if clinical variables from signalment, history, clinical examination and basic ancillary tests are associated with underlying diagnoses in cats with non‐ambulatory tetraparesis ...

Tibial Tuberosity Avulsion Fracture and Patellar Tendon Avulsion: A Case Report

open access: yesJournal of Orthopaedics, Trauma and Rehabilitation, 2016
A case with simultaneous tibial tuberosity fracture and patellar tendon avulsion in a 16-year-old boy is presented. Surgery was performed for open reduction, screw fixation and patellar tendon repair, and protected with a wire loop to restore the ...

A revised classification system of the marronoid clade of spiders (Araneae), based on dense sampling phylogenomics and comparative morphology

open access: yesCladistics, EarlyView.
Abstract The marronoid clade is a globally distributed, ecologically diverse group of spiders. It is an important faunal component in both natural and synanthropic environments, and even found in aquatic and extreme habitats such as desert salt flats. The systematics of the marronoid clade has been notoriously unstable due to the widespread character ...

Cumulative effects of lifelong systemic excess growth hormone on postcranial skeletal morphology in adult mice

open access: yesJournal of Anatomy, EarlyView.
Our μCT‐based pilot study reveals size and shape disparity in the adult postcranial skeleton of growth‐hormone model (bGH) mice relative to wild‐type mice. bGH mice have larger and more sexually dimorphic bones, with a systemic radiodensity increase in bony sesamoids and associated, but typically uncalcified, soft tissues.

Morphological Characteristics of Inferior Pole Patellar Fractures and a Finite‐Element Analysis Combined With a Retrospective Clinical Study of Anchor Suture and Titanium Cable Cerclage Treatment

open access: yesOrthopaedic Surgery
Objective Inferior pole patellar fractures (IPPFs) pose a significant challenge due to their complex fracture patterns and high risk of complications associated with current treatment methods.
