Patellar Tendon Reconstruction With Achilles Tendon Allograft For Nonrepairable Patellar Tendon Rupture

Techniques in Orthopaedics, 2021
Patellar tendon reconstruction in the setting of a nonrepairable patellar tendon rupture can be a technically difficult and extensive procedure. An alternative surgical technique for patellar tendon reconstruction with Achilles tendon allograft utilizes tibial tubercle interference fixation for the bone plug.

Patellar tendonitis and patellar dislocations

Primary Care: Clinics in Office Practice, 2004
Common sports injuries, such as patellar tendonitis and patellar dislocation, can be treated either surgically or with rehabilitation and physical therapy. Most patients with patellar tendonitis will respond well to conservative measures; however, some recalcitrant cases will require surgical intervention.

The anatomy of the patellar tendon

Knee Surgery, Sports Traumatology, Arthroscopy, 2000
AbstractThe morphology of the attachment of the patellar tendon, its bundle orientation, the differential fascicles length and the position of the apex of the patella were assessed in 22 cadaveric human knees. The patellar apex was 39±6% of the width of the tendon from its medial edge.

Rupture of the Achilles and patellar tendons

Clinics in Sports Medicine, 2003
Certain similarities can clearly be appreciated between Achilles and patellar tendon ruptures. Both are strong tendons that transmit force bridging at least one joint of the lower limb. When healthy, both require massive forces to be disrupted, and both can be weakened through certain systemic disease processes, steroids, and fluoroquinones. Both allow

Patellar tendon shortening after treatment of patellar instability with a patellar tendon medialization procedure

Scandinavian Journal of Medicine & Science in Sports, 2008
Patellar instability is a multifactorial disorder. Patella alta is strongly associated with patellar instability. We hypothesize that procedures of the patellar tendon such as medialization may shorten the patellar tendon. In this retrospective study, 41 patients with patellar instability were treated operatively with a patellar tendon medialization ...

The Patellar Tendon

Seminars in Musculoskeletal Radiology, 2013
The patellar tendon is well suited to sonographic evaluation because it is large and superficial and thus easily demonstrated. Sonography is a focused examination, concentrating on the area of pain and clinical suspicion. Its advantages over MR imaging are the speed of performance, better spatial resolution, capability of dynamic evaluation, and real ...

Patellar Tendon Injuries

Clinics in Sports Medicine, 1992
Patellar tendon injury secondary to overuse represents a failure of soft tissue healing that can lead to chronic symptoms. Clinical staging of this process is helpful in the initial management. Diagnostic imaging can help define the character of the injury as well as localized pathology.

Patellar tendon length — the factor in patellar instability?

The Knee, 2002
Patellar tendon length has been compared in 42 knees with a history of patellar dislocation, and 51 control knees. A lateral X-ray and a magnetic resonance image (MRI) were taken of each knee. The mean radiological patellar tendon length was 46 mm in the controls and 53 mm in the dislocation group. From MRI images, the mean was 44 mm in controls and 52

Patellar Tendon Rupture

2016
Extensor apparatus injuries have an incidence of 0.5–6 %. Patellar tendon is part of this structure, and its rupture is the third in frequency after patella and quadriceps tendon ones. However, despite the rarity of this lesion, it is a dramatic injury with important consequences on knee function.

Patellar Sleeve Fracture With Ossification of the Patellar Tendon

Orthopedics, 2017
Patellar sleeve fractures make up greater than 50% of all patellar fractures. They are essentially only seen in the pediatric population because of the thick periosteum and the distal patellar pole apophysis in this group. These fractures can lead to complications if not treated appropriately and in a timely fashion.
