The first biomechanical analysis of a human patellar-tendon rupture during actual sports competition is reported. Cinematographic data for analysis were collected at a national weight-lifting championship. Dynamic equations to mathematically model the lifter were developed to compute time course and magnitudes of hip, knee and ankle-joint moments of ...

Intramedullary insertion of the patellar tendon
Skeletal Radiology, 2005This case represents a rare presentation of an intramedullary insertion of the patellar tendon in an otherwise healthy 8-year-old girl. To our knowledge no such phenomenon has previously been reported in the English literature.

Quadriceps and patellar tendon rupture
Injury, 2006Ruptures of the patellar and/or quadriceps tendon are rare injuries that require immediate repair to re-establish knee extensor continuity and to allow early motion. We evaluated 36 consecutive patients with quadriceps or patellar tendon rupture between 1993 and 2000.

Lengthening of the Patellar Tendon
2014Patella infera with a Caton-Deschamps (C-D) index of 0.6–0.8 is not uncommon. If symptomatic, a proximal transfer of the tibial tubercle (TT) can be considered.

Shortening the Patellar Tendon
2014In patella alta associated with an excessively long patellar tendon, it is more logical to shorten the patellar tendon than to distalize the tibial tubercle (TT). We have therefore developed a technique to correct this anomaly. It is particularly indicated in patients who are skeletally immature in which a TT transfer would be contraindicated. However,

Growth changes in morphological and mechanical properties of human patellar tendon in vivo.
Journal of Applied Biomechanics, 2014The purpose of this study was to compare the morphological and mechanical properties of the human patellar tendon among elementary school children (prepubertal), junior high school students (pubertal), and adults.

The rupture of patellar tendon (PT) is a pathological condition of the extensor mechanism of the knee. The PT lesions are rare, often occurring between the 2nd and 4th decade of life (Clayton and Court-Brown 2008; White et al. 2007), in active and sports patients.

Quadriceps and patellar tendon ruptures
Der Orthopäde, 2000Ruptures of the quadriceps as well as the patellar tendon occur in low frequency, but cause major functional deficits of the leg. These injuries usually require operative treatment. Acute quadriceps tendon ruptures are treated by suture repair, using heavy sutures guided through bone tunnels in the patella. Chronic defects and neglected cases require a
