Assessment and management of chronic patellofemoral instability
The Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery. British volume, 2007Chronic patellofemoral instability can be a disabling condition. Management of patients with this condition has improved owing to our increased knowledge of the functional anatomy of the patellofemoral joint. Accurate assessment of the underlying pathology in the unstable joint enables the formulation of appropriate treatment.

Patellofemoral Pain and Instability in Adolescent Athletes
Sports Medicine and Arthroscopy Review, 2016Injuries and disorders of the patellofemoral joint in the adolescent athlete can encompass a wide spectrum of symptomatology and pathology. Anterior knee pain is a common presenting symptom in sports medicine clinics, and can have numerous underlying etiologies.

Patellofemoral Pain and Instability
2017Patellofemoral problems are well recognized as a critical puzzle. These are one of the most complex but neglected pathological conditions of the knee, so that has been leading to lack of both understanding and consensus on the entire analytical path, from diagnosis to treatment. In addition, patellofemoral disorders present a great incidence and strong

Treatment of Patellofemoral Instability in Down's Syndrome
Clinical Orthopaedics and Related Research, 1988In a retrospective review, 16 patients with Down's syndrome with the chief complaint of patellofemoral joint dislocations or subluxations were studied. Twenty-six dislocatable or dislocated patellae were seen in these 16 patients. The degree of patellofemoral instability was not correlated with either the ambulatory status or the form of treatment ...

Imaging in Patellofemoral Instability
2018Imaging in the setting of patellofemoral (PF) instability should begin with an adequate radiographic series including frontal, lateral, and axial projections. Potential predisposing factors such as trochlear or patellar dysplasias and patellar position should be assessed.

The Role of Trochlear Dysplasia in Patellofemoral Instability
American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeon, 2011Trochlear dysplasia is characterized by abnormal trochlear morphology and a shallow groove. It is associated with recurrent patellar dislocation, but it is unclear whether the dysplasia is congenital, the result of lateral tracking and chronic instability, or caused by a combination of factors.

Patellofemoral instability: classification and imaging.
Joints, 2013Patellofemoral disorders must be approached through an appropriate process of diagnostic framing, performed using language that is, as far as possible, unequivocal and a validated and organic classification system. At present, the classification proposed by the Lyonnaise school, which fulfills these requirements, is the most complete.

[Chronic patellofemoral instability].
Der Unfallchirurg, 2013Chronic patellofemoral instability may lead to pain and early osteoarthrosis. Recurrent dislocations of the patella, lateral subluxation and chronic dislocation are summarized under this generic term. There are five different factors which may be responsible of the development of chronic patellofemoral instability: 1) elongation of the medial ...

Der Orthopade, 2018
Patellofemoral instability is an extremely limiting pathology in young and active patients. Anatomical reasons for patellar instability, such as high-riding patella, elevated distance from the tibial tuberosity to trochlear groove (TTTG), trochlear dysplasia, insufficient medial patellofemoral ligament (MPFL) and malpositioning of the axes and torsion ...
