Preoperative Sagittal Tibial Tubercle‐Trochlear Groove Distance Predicts Postoperative Outcome in Patients Undergoing Combined Trochleoplasty and Medial Patellofemoral Ligament Reconstruction

open access: yesArthroscopy, EarlyView.
Purpose To evaluate the association between the preoperative sagittal tibial tubercle‐trochlear groove (sTTTG) distance and postoperative patient‐reported outcomes after combined patellofemoral ligament reconstruction and deepening trochleoplasty in patients with recurrent lateral patellar instability and high‐grade trochlear dysplasia.

Editorial Commentary: Contact Is Not Containment: In High‐Grade Trochlear Dysplasia, the Patellotrochlear Index Quantifies Cartilage Overlap in the Absence of Osseous Constraint

open access: yesArthroscopy, EarlyView.
Abstract Patella alta remains among the most critical anatomical risk factors for recurrent patellofemoral instability and failure of patellar stabilization surgery. The Caton‐Deschamps index references the patella to the tibia by measuring the position of the patella relative to the anterosuperior margin of the tibial plateau.

Patient-specific gait pattern in individuals with patellofemoral instability reduces knee joint loads

open access: yesScientific Reports
Patellofemoral instability is influenced by morphological factors and associated with compensational alterations in gait pattern. Recent simulation studies investigated the impact of knee morphology on the stability and loading of the patellofemoral ...

Simultaneous MPFL and LPFL reconstruction for recurrent lateral patellar dislocation with medial patellofemoral instability

open access: yesAsia-Pacific Journal of Sports Medicine, Arthroscopy, Rehabilitation and Technology, 2014
We report an extremely rare case of both recurrent lateral patella dislocation and medial patellofemoral instability, following prior operations to correct patella maltracking.

Medial patellofemoral ligament reconstruction with simultaneous osteochondral fracture fixation is an effective treatment for adolescent patellar dislocation with osteochondral fractures

open access: yesJournal of Children's Orthopaedics, 2022
Background: Osteochondral fractures can occur during patellar dislocation and often require treatment. The purpose of this study is to determine the incidence of recurrent instability and second surgery following osteochondral fracture fixation with ...

Influence of Psychiatric Comorbidities on Postoperative Outcomes Following Pediatric Medial Patellofemoral Ligament Reconstruction

open access: yesArthroscopy, Sports Medicine, and Rehabilitation, EarlyView.
Purpose To compare postoperative complications, rehabilitation outcomes, and health care utilization in children undergoing primary medial patellofemoral ligament reconstruction for patellofemoral instability with and without a pre‐existing mental illness. Methods The TriNetX U.S.

SURGICAL TREATMENT OF PATELLOFEMORAL INSTABILITY

open access: yesRevista Brasileira de Ortopedia (English Edition), 2009
To describe functional outcomes following surgical treatment of patients with patellofemoral instability submitted to patellar realignment. This was a retrospective study evaluating 34 operated knees for patellofemoral instability between 1989 and 2004.

Over Half of Patients Progress to Cartilage Restoration After Initial Cartilage Biopsy in a Military Population

open access: yesArthroscopy, Sports Medicine, and Rehabilitation, EarlyView.
Purpose To evaluate the rate of matrix‐induced autologous chondrocyte implantation (MACI) after cartilage biopsy in a military population. Methods A retrospective review was conducted of all patients who underwent a cartilage biopsy at 2 large regional military health centers between January 2021 and May 2023.

Arthroscopic Posterior Cruciate Ligament Reconstruction Using a Pedicled Semitendinosus Autograft Through a Trans‐Septal Approach: A Technical Note

open access: yesArthroscopy Techniques, EarlyView.
Abstract Isolated posterior cruciate ligament (PCL) ruptures are relatively uncommon among knee ligament injuries. Operative management is recommended for patients with grade III posterior knee joint laxity. The complex anatomy of the PCL, particularly its course and insertion on the femur and the tibia, makes its reconstruction technically challenging.
