Ibuprofen for Ductus Arteriosus Months after Birth

open access: yesCase Reports in Pediatrics, 2016
Ibuprofen is a well-known agent used to treat patent ductus arteriosus in preterm neonates in the first days of life. In the current case report we illustrate the potential use of ibuprofen in two preterm neonates 60 and 88 days after birth, respectively.

Early treatment versus expectative management of patent ductus arteriosus in preterm infants [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
_Background:_ Much controversy exists about the optimal management of a patent ductus arteriosus (PDA) in preterm infants, especially in those born at a gestational age (GA) less than 28weeks.

Six New Cases of 22q13.2 Gain Including TFC20: First Report of Triplication and Smallest Duplication Associated With Neurodevelopmental Delays

open access: yesClinical Genetics, EarlyView.
This study reports six new cases of 22q13.2 duplication and triplication, including the TCF20 gene, associated with neurodevelopmental disorders and various morphological and systemic abnormalities. The findings suggest a variable expressivity, but their complete penetrance remains uncertain compared to well‐established loss‐of‐function variants ...

Hemodynamically significant patent ductus arteriosus and the development of bronchopulmonary dysplasia

open access: yesCongenital Heart Disease, 2018
Patent ductus arteriosus (PDA) is prevalent in premature newborns and has been linked to the development of bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD), a serious pulmonary complication of premature birth.

Ductal closure with radiofrequency energy; outcomes of the first series

open access: yesIndian Heart Journal, 2020
Using radiofrequency energy for closure of the patent ductus arteriosus (PDA) has been reported by us previously. In this article we report the early and late outcome of the first group in whom patent ductus arteriosus has been occluded with ...

Ivabradine Use in Premature Infants With Accelerated Idioventricular Rhythm

open access: yesJournal of Cardiovascular Electrophysiology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Ivabradine has been recently introduced to treat focal atrial tachycardia and junctional ectopic tachycardia in children. Its use for treating ventricular tachyarrhythmias, specifically accelerated idioventricular rhythm (AIVR), remains limited.

Left ventricular efficiency after ligation of patent ductus arteriosus for premature infants [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
ObjectiveThe purpose of this study was to evaluate the hemodynamic changes in left ventricular function before and after patent ductus arteriosus ligation in premature infants with regard to the energetic efficiency of left ventricular pumping ...

Hyperglycemia as an atypical finding of malignant hyperthermia: A case report and literature review

open access: yesJournal of Diabetes Investigation, EarlyView.
A 13‐month‐old toddler presented with an atypical symptom – hyperglycemia – during a malignant hyperthermia crisis. During MH, hyperglycemia may result from intracellular calcium leakage in muscle cells, suggesting a potential association between MH susceptibility and hyperglycemia.

Turkish Neonatal Society guideline on the management of patent ductus arteriosus in preterm infants

open access: yesTürk pediatri arşivi, 2018
Ductus arteriosus is a physiologic phenomenon in utero and it closes spontaneously in term babies. The closure is problematic in preterm infants due to the intrinsic properties of the preterm ductus arteriosus tissue.

Mediastinal bronchial artery aneurysm with short inflow segment successfully treated with a patent ductus arteriosus occluder device

open access: yesJournal of Vascular Surgery Cases and Innovative Techniques, 2020
Bronchial artery aneurysm (BAA) is a rare vascular abnormality that may result in life-threatening bleeding if it is left untreated. We present the case of a 35-year-old man with a mediastinal BAA characterized by a short inflow artery segment and ...
