Caste as a Social Kind

ABSTRACT Gender and race have received significant philosophical attention recently; they are the paradigm cases of social kinds in most philosophical accounts. I argue for the inclusion of caste as a social kind because it affects the lives of many people, and because it presents itself as an important test case for philosophers of social kinds.

Identification of a De Novo MAGEL2 Pathogenic Variant in Schaaf–Yang Syndrome and the Importance of Paternal Allele Confirmation

This study reports a de novo MAGEL2 pathogenic variant in a patient with Schaaf–Yang syndrome, confirmed through methylation‐sensitive analysis. Combining genomic sequencing with methylation assays helps accurately determine the parental origin of MAGEL2 mutations.

Clinical and Genetic Significance of Chromosomal Microarray Screening of Asymptomatic Newborns

Among 99 asymptomatic newborns with abnormal low‐resolution chromosomal microarray (LR‐CMA) screening, 70.7% harbored microduplication/microdeletions with syndromic implications. However, only a minority exhibited developmental concerns during early follow‐up, highlighting the need for cautious interpretation.

Genetic and environmental influences on sleep quality, ability to settle, and crying duration in 2‐ and 5‐month‐old infants: A longitudinal twin study

JCPP Advances, EarlyView.
This study found that genetic factors largely influence crying duration and settle ability in infancy, while shared environmental factors primarily affect the number of night wakeups. Etiological influences tended to change from 2 to 5 months, reflecting a highly plastic period in infant brain development and in child‐environment interactions. Abstract

The impact of less severe intimate partner aggression on child conduct problems

JCPP Advances, EarlyView.
Children who were exposed to intimate partner aggression in their early development have a higher chance to show conduct problems later in childhood. This effect is only partially explained by maternal depressive symptoms. In addition, maternal warmth cannot buffer this impact.
