A major challenge in the study of intracellular signaling has been the elucidation of the physical and biological principles by which the network of signaling molecules is assembled to execute signaling programs. In their Perspective, Zuker et al.

Spaces of paths and the path topology
Journal of Mathematical Physics, 2016The natural topology on the space of causal paths of a space-time depends on the topology chosen on the space-time itself. Here we consider the effect of using the path topology on space-time instead of the manifold topology, and its consequences for how properties of space-time are reflected in the structure of the space of causal paths.

We give a historical account of the parametrized results for the k-Path problem: given a graph G and a positive integer k, is there a simple path in G of length k. Throughout the years several ingenious approaches have been used, steadily decreasing the run time bound. Moreover, the techniques used have often found lots of other applications.

In this chapter, we begin our study of an alternative to the simplex method for solving linear programming problems. The algorithm we are going to introduce is called a path-following method. It belongs to a class of methods called interior-point methods.

Paths to Success and Paths to Failure
2012Having spent so much time figuring out how to move a company to a higher level of performance and having developed a nuanced view of what different levels of performance look like, we can now reflect on how some companies got to a poor performance level, especially level 4 and how some other companies found a path to higher level performance.
