Past expectations as a determinant of equilibrium prices - hysteresis in a simple economy [PDF]

open access: yes
We give an illustration of hysteresis (path-dependence) in a simple economy. In the presence of multiple possible equilibrium prices, we find that past expectations determine present prices.

Hopfield Neural Networks for Online Constrained Parameter Estimation With Time‐Varying Dynamics and Disturbances

open access: yesInternational Journal of Adaptive Control and Signal Processing, EarlyView.
This paper proposes two projector‐based Hopfield neural network (HNN) estimators for online, constrained parameter estimation under time‐varying data, additive disturbances, and slowly drifting physical parameters. The first is a constraint‐aware HNN that enforces linear equalities and inequalities (via slack neurons) and continuously tracks the ...

Path dependence, its critics and the quest for ‘historical economics’ [PDF]

open access: yes
The concept of path dependence refers to a property of contingent, non- reversible dynamical processes, including a wide array of biological and social processes that can properly be described as 'evolutionary.' To dispell existing confusions in the ...

Bistable Mechanisms 3D Printing for Mechanically Programmable Vibration Control

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This work introduces a 3D‐printed bistable mechanism integrated into tuned mass dampers (TMDs) for mechanically adaptive passive vibration suppression. Through optimized geometry, the bistable design provides adaptable vibration reduction across a broad range of scenarios, achieving effective vibration mitigation without complex controls or external ...

Scalar conservation laws with rough (stochastic) fluxes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
We develop a pathwise theory for scalar conservation laws with quasilinear multiplicative rough path dependence, a special case being stochastic conservation laws with quasilinear stochastic dependence.

Enhancing Corrosion Resistance and Mechanical Strength of 3D‐Printed Iron Polylactic Acid for Marine Applications via Laser Surface Texturing

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Laser surface texturing significantly improves the corrosion resistance and mechanical strength of 3D‐printed iron polylactic acid (Ir‐PLA) for marine applications. Optimal laser parameters reduce corrosion by 80% and enhance tensile strength by 25% and ductility by 15%.

Dispersion-managed soliton in optical fibers with zero average dispersion

open access: yes, 2000
The dispersion-managed (DM) optical system with step-wise periodical variation of dispersion is studied in the framework of path-averaged Gabitov-Turitsyn equation. The soliton solution is obtained by iterating the path-averaged equation.

Dynamic Precipitation during High‐Pressure Torsion of a Magnesium–Manganese Alloy

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
An ultrafine‐grained alloy is produced by high‐pressure torsion of solutionized Mg–1.35 wt% Mn. Precipitation of nanometer‐scale Mn particles during deformation provides pinning sites. This prevents the formation of a bimodal grain structure and results in a finer grain size than for pure Mg.

Iron triangles and subsidies: understanding the long-term role of the government on Swedish commercial fisheries

open access: yesEcology and Society, 2019
Many natural resources have degraded and collapsed despite being managed under rigorous institutional frameworks set up to ensure rational exploitation.

Transverse Spectra of Radiation Processes in Medium [PDF]

open access: yes, 1999
We develop a formalism for evaluation of the transverse momentum dependence of cross sections of the radiation processes in medium. The analysis is based on the light-cone path integral approach to the induced radiation.
