The Open Method of Coordination and integration theory: are there lessons to be learned? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
This paper seeks to contextualize the Open Method of Coordination (OMC) and enrich our understanding of it by submitting constructivist insights to its policy assessment with a focus on the Employment Strategy (EES).

Tailoring Functional Properties of Ti–Ni–Cu Shape Memory Alloy Thin Films for MEMS Actuators

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A comprehensive study of critical parameters required to develop well‐performing Ti–Ni–Cu thin film shape memory alloy microactuators is provided. Materials science and device integration aspects are integrated by addressing structural and physical relationships using complementary characterization techniques as well as a practical fabrication solution

In search for accumulative effects of European economic integration [PDF]

open access: yes
The forthcoming eastern enlargement of the European Union is generally perceived to constitute one of the most significant challenges to the process of European integration so far. The economic impact of the enlargement is likely to be considerable.

A Lightweight Procedural Layer for Hybrid Experimental–Computational Workflows in Materials Science

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
We unveil a prototype hybrid‐workflow framework that fuses automatedcomputation with hands‐on experiments. Built atop pyiron, a lightweight, parameterized layer translates procedure descriptions into executable manual steps, syncing instrument settings, human interventions, and data capture in real‐time today.

Cooperative path planning and cooperative perception for UAVs swarm [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
In this research Pythagorean Hodograph based path planning and camera based cooperative perception are investigated separately and then these two entirely separate areas (Path Planning and Perception) are integrated for the application in online pop-up ...

Recycling of NiTi Shape Memory Alloys: Fundamental and Technological Aspects of a Vacuum Induction Melting Processing Route

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The present study investigates recycling of NiTi shape memory alloys via vacuum induction melting. An ingot was synthesized from elemental Ni and Ti and subjected to three subsequent remelting cycles. Remelting increases process durations and impurity levels and adversely affects microstructures and functional properties.

Speedrunning and path integrals

open access: yesCoRR
In this article we will explore the concept of speedrunning as a representation of a simplified version of quantum mechanics within a classical simulation. This analogy can be seen as a simplified approach to understanding the broader idea that quantum mechanics may emerge from classical mechanics simulations due to the limitations of the simulation ...

Revisiting the investment development path (IDP): A non linear fluctuation approach [PDF]

open access: yes
The investment development path (IDP) approach claims that countries go through five stages with respect to their net outward investment positions as they develop.

Optimization of the Production of Rubber Compounds Using Mathematical Models

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Rubber compounds were mixed in a batch internal mixer, and symbolic regression was used to derive mathematical models linking recipe and process parameters to ram path, torque, and mixing quality (incorporation, dispersion, distribution). Subsequent optimization with evolutionary algorithms identified operating conditions that reduce specific energy ...

Navigating space and the developing mind

open access: yesFrontiers in Psychology
In this article, we review the extensive and complex fabric of literature concerning the ontogenesis of spatial representations from earliest childhood to the elderly, including normal and abnormal aging (dementia and Alzheimer’s disease).
