Optimal path coordination problems
2008 47th IEEE Conference on Decision and Control, 2008Optimal path coordination problems for multi-vehicle systems are formulated in the framework of hybrid systems and solved using dynamic programming techniques. In these problems, the path cost for one vehicle is a discontinuous function of the distances to other vehicles. This leads to a non-standard optimal control problem.

Optimal paths through downbursts
Guidance, Navigation and Control Conference, 1989The control of an aircraft's takeoff path through a downburst is presently formulated as a dynamic optimization problem with minimum-altitude constraint and two different performance measures; a landing path through a downburst is also discussed. Paths are determined which, in addition to maximizing an airspeed/altitude combination immediately after ...

A shortest-route algorithm for finite networks is modified for application to path-dependent finite networks and to stochastic networks. The type of stochastic network considered has a "capture" probability associated with each node; The problem of finding a path of minimum expected value on a countable infinite stochastic network is discussed ...

This paper focuses on using classical programming algorithms to optimize the trajectory of CNC tool. The path optimization problem was modeled using the traveling salesman methodology. To solve the optimization problem an implementation of the ant colony algorithm and genetic algorithm were chosen.

Analysis of Sample-Path Optimization
Mathematics of Operations Research, 1996Sample-path optimization is a method for optimizing limit functions occurring in stochastic modeling problems, such as steady-state functions in discrete-event dynamic systems. It is closely related to retrospective optimization techniques and to M-estimation.

This chapter discusses the important task of optimal path tracking, i.e. situations where the path of the is prescribed while its EE trajectory is not. Therein, joint space and work space path tracking approaches are distinguished, cf. Section 5.1 and Section 5.2, respectively.

It is well known that the stability of optimal paths for infinite horizon concave problems is not assured for all discount factors. Along the ideas developed in Boldrin and Montrucchio (IER, 1988), we provide new results of stability which are related to the notion of acyclicity.
