Pathergy test in Behcet's disease: change in incidence over the time

open access: closedAPLAR Journal of Rheumatology, 2007
AbstractIntroduction:  Pathergy phenomenon (PP) is used as a criterion in many diagnostic criteria for Behcet's disease (BD): Curth, Japan, Hubault and Hamza, Cheng and Zhang, Dilsen, International Study Group, Iran criteria (traditional format and the Classification Tree), Korea criteria, and the new International Criteria. PP is rather specific to BD.

Skin Pathergy Test: How Important Is it for Behcet’s Disease?

open access: closed
The pathergy test (PT) is a minimally invasive method that examines the hyperreactivity response of the skin to needle application. In the International Study Group for Behcet’s Disease (ISG) criteria system, the sensitivity and specificity are stated as 58% and 90%, respectively.

Impact of the positive pathergy test on the performance of classification/diagnosis criteria for Behcet’s disease

open access: closedModern Rheumatology, 2013
The only diagnostic test that currently exists for Behcet's disease (BD) is the pathergy test. A positive pathergy test (PPT) is an important component of many of the 16 sets of classification/diagnosis criteria used to diagnose BD. The aim of this study was to determine the importance of a PTT in the performance of the diagnosis/classification ...

Diagnostic value of pathergy test in Behcet’s disease according to the change of incidence over the time

open access: closedClinical Rheumatology, 2011
Pathergy test (PT) is used for the diagnosis of Behcet's disease (BD). It is a criterion in many classification/diagnosis criteria. PT is mainly seen in BD but can be seen in other conditions too. PT has been reported with high frequency from most countries along the Silk Road. The sensitivity of pathergy phenomenon (PP) is declining over the time. The

Skin Window Examination According to Rebuck and Cutaneous Pathergy Tests in Patients with Behçet’s Disease

open access: closedDermatology, 1985
Comparative in vivo examinations of skin (cutaneous pathergy test, skin window technique over 24 h according to Rebuck) were carried out in 12 patients with Behçet’s disease (BD) and in 13 healthy volunteers serving as controls. 10 out of 12 patients at active phases of BD showed a positive papular (-pustular) skin reactivity to needle prick or vene ...

Comparison of argon laser photocoagulation-induced cutaneous inflammation and skin pathergy test in Behçet’s disease

open access: closedClinical Rheumatology, 2009
Nonspecific increased inflammatory response is an important feature of Behçet's disease (BD). The skin pathergy reaction (SPR) which tests this hyperreactivity in the skin is frequently used as a diagnostic tool. This study aims to investigate the argon laser photocoagulation (ALP)-induced cutaneous inflammation in BD patients and controls and also to ...

Influence of Pathergy Test on the Accuracy of Different Diagnosis Criteria for Behçet’s Disease

open access: closed, 2006
The Classification Tree criteria are the most sensitive and the most accurate criteria with or without the result of the pathergy test. They are also least affected by the absence of the pathergy test.

The Pathergy Test as a Diagnostic Tool.

open access: closedSkinmed, 2019
The pathergy test produces a nonspecific hyperreactive lesion in Behçet's disease (BD), a finding that has been known since 1937. Pathergy refers to the development of new skin lesions or the aggravation of existing ones after trivial trauma. In clinical practice, the pathergy test induces a skin response by needleprick, with positive reactions ...
