[The pathogen spectrum in neonatal dacryocystitis].

Klinische Monatsblatter fur Augenheilkunde, 1987
The most common cause of congenital dacryostenosis is the persistence of Hasner's membrane, which in more than 90% of cases perforates during the first 4 to 6 weeks. If no perforation occurs, the tears gather in the lacrimal duct and lacrimal sac until the system is full and an inflammation starts.

Phylogenetic Spectrum of Fungi That Are Pathogenic to Humans

Clinical Infectious Diseases, 1994
Recent phylogenetic studies based on ribosomal RNA sequences have confirmed that the organisms traditionally treated as fungi include those that have evolved from several different lines (multiphyletic organisms), as has been suspected. Even organisms causing disease in humans represent at least two evolutional lines.

[Contagious impetigo--pathogen spectrum and therapeutic consequences].

Deutsche medizinische Wochenschrift (1946), 2000
The aim of this prospective study was to compare the clinical picture of contagious impetigo (C.I.) with the causative organism and to generate data of the susceptibility of bacteria as the basis for adequate therapy. In 126 patients with C.I. (86 children, 66 of them younger than 10 years) bacterial swabs were taken and antibiotic sensitivity testing ...

[Urethritis-spectrum of pathogens, diagnostics and treatment].

Dermatologie (Heidelberg, Germany), 2023
A broad spectrum of bacteria, fungi, protozoa and viruses can cause urethritis. In particular, N. gonorrhoeae, C. trachomatis, M. genitalium and T. vaginalis are the focus of diagnostic considerations as classic pathogens associated with sexually transmitted infections (STI). A step-by-step procedure is needed to make a definitive diagnosis. Microscopy

[Pathogen spectrum of urethritis in the man].

Der Hautarzt; Zeitschrift fur Dermatologie, Venerologie, und verwandte Gebiete, 1999
545 male patients with a tentative diagnosis "urethritis" were examined between November 1984 and December 1994 in the Department of Dermatology and Venerology of the Military Hospital in Ulm. The patients, aged from 18 to 58 years (mean age 24.1 years), were examined according to a standardized diagnostic procedure: Smear preparations from the urethra

Clinical spectrum of KIAA2022 pathogenic variants in males

American Journal of Medical Genetics. Part A, 2018
KIAA2022 is an X-linked intellectual disability (XLID) syndrome affecting males more severely than females. Few males with KIAA2022 variants and XLID have been reported. We present a clinical report of two unrelated males, with two nonsense KIAA2022 pathogenic variants, with profound intellectual disabilities, limited language development, strikingly ...

Spectrum and drug resistance of pathogens from patients with burns

Burns, 2012
Microbial infection is an obstacle of burn treatment. However, little is known on what types of microbial infection dominate in the burn center and how the dynamic change of those microorganisms occurs during the past several years in China. We conducted a retrospective study of nosocomial infection (NI) in a large burn center to analyze the spectrum ...

Resistant respiratory pathogens and extended-spectrum antibiotics.

American family physician, 1995
Traditional antibiotics such as amoxicillin, tetracycline and erythromycin remain the drugs of first choice for most bacterial respiratory infections. However, the usefulness of these agents varies, depending on local bacterial resistance patterns and patient factors. In the United States, amoxicillin and penicillin resistance currently occurs in 20 to

[Epidemiology and pathogen spectrum of urinary tract infections].

Wiener medizinische Wochenschrift (1946), 1992
Urinary tract infections still are a diagnostic as well as a therapeutical problem. The knowledge on the frequency of the causative organisms and their sensitivity to antibiotics and the different modes of urinary tract infections as well are very important, especially because of remaining organizational and medical-technical problems to identify the ...

[Pathogen spectrum and antibiotic resistance in peritonsillar abscess].

HNO, 1996
The study presented updates the spectrum of causative organisms in peritonsillar abscesses. Antibiotic treatment and surgery play important roles in this potentially life-threatening disease. A regular screening of the bacterial spectrum present and resistance remains important for optimizing a therapeutic regimen.
