The diversity of microfungi associated with grasses in the Sporobolus indicus complex in Queensland, Australia

open access: yesFrontiers in Fungal Biology, 2022
There are five closely related Sporobolus species, collectively known as weedy Sporobolus grasses (WSG) or the rat’s tail grasses. They are fast growing, highly competitive, unpalatable weeds of pastures, roadsides and woodlands.

Trichoderma metabolites as biological control agents against Phytophthora pathogens

open access: yesBiological Control, 2016
Abstract Trichoderma species are well-known biological control agents. In this study, metabolites from 128 Trichoderma isolates were extracted from liquid cultures using ethyl acetate and tested for their activities against seven Phytophthora isolates. Following preliminary analysis, eight Trichoderma isolates were selected for further tests.

Antimicrobial activity of biogenically produced spherical Se-nanomaterials embedded in organic material against Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Staphylococcus aureus strains on hydroxyapatite-coated surfaces [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
In an effort to prevent the formation of pathogenic biofilms on hydroxyapatite (HA)-based clinical devices and surfaces, we present a study evaluating the antimicrobial efficacy of Spherical biogenic Se-Nanostructures Embedded in Organic material (Bio Se-

Acanthamoeba genotype T4 from the UK and Iran and isolation of the T2 genotype from clinical isolates [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
The majority of the keratitis-causing Acanthamoeba isolates are genotype T4. In an attempt to determine whether predominance of T4 isolates in Acanthamoeba keratitis is due to greater virulence or greater prevalence of this genotype, Acanthamoeba ...

Heritage grapevines as sources of biological control agents for Botryosphaeria dieback pathogens

open access: yesPhytopathologia Mediterranea, 2023
Grapevine trunk diseases cause severe damage in grapevines. Management strategies focus on protection of grapevine pruning wounds using chemical fungicides or biological control agents. Botryosphaeria dieback, caused mainly by Lasiodiplodia spp., is one of the main trunk diseases in northwest Mexico.
