Molecular Pathology of Laminopathies
Annual Review of Pathology: Mechanisms of Disease, 2022The nuclear envelope is composed of the nuclear membranes, nuclear lamina, and nuclear pore complexes. Laminopathies are diseases caused by mutations in genes encoding protein components of the lamina and these other nuclear envelope substructures. Mutations in the single gene encoding lamin A and C, which are expressed in most differentiated somatic ...

Molecular Pathology of Gliomas
Clinics in Laboratory Medicine, 2021Gliomas are the most common adult and pediatric primary brain tumors. Molecular studies have identified features that can enhance diagnosis and provide biomarkers. IDH1/2 mutation with ATRX and TP53 mutations defines diffuse astrocytomas, whereas IDH1/2 mutations with 1p19q loss defines oligodendroglioma.

Pathological anatomy and molecular pathology
Lung Cancer, 2004The incidence of malignant mesotheliomas in Germany has increased since about the mid 1980s, and a further increase is expected until about 2020 due to the peak in asbestos processing in Germany between 1965 and 1980. About 90% of the mesotheliomas recorded in the files of the German Mesothelioma Registry in Bochum are asbestos-related and therefore ...

Molecular pathology of ceruloplasmin
Biochemical Genetics, 1972Individual preparations of CP isolated from one normal donor and two homozygotes for the “Wilson's disease gene” were subjected to a comparative structural and analytical examination. Analysis of CP tryptic hydrolysate by the peptide map technique revealed 64–66 peptides in each sample.

The molecular pathology of sarcomas
Cancer Biomarkers, 2011Sarcomas are rare malignancies of mesenchymal lineage with more than 100 specific types and many benign potential mimics. In situ and precursor lesions are generally not described and thus much of molecular pathology in this field concentrates on molecular diagnosis, prognosis and determination of therapeutic targets.

The molecular pathology of cancer
Nature Reviews Clinical Oncology, 2010Rapid technical advances in DNA sequencing and genome-wide association studies are driving the discovery of the germline and somatic mutations that are present in different cancers. Mutations in genes involved in cellular signaling are common, and often shared by tumors that arise in distinct anatomical locations.

Molecular Pathology of Meningiomas
Ideggyógyászati szemle, 2015Meningiomas represent nearly one-third of all adult primary brain tumours. According to their clinical and histologic appearance, they can be divided into WHO grades I-III. Almost 90% of meningiomas are benign, showing favourable response to conventional therapies, however, patients diagnosed with grade 2 and 3 tumours may have a poor prognosis.
