Role of Patient-Reported Outcome Measures on Predicting Outcome of Bunion Surgery
Background: Prior studies have suggested preoperative patient-reported outcome scores could predict patients who would achieve a clinically meaningful improvement with hallux valgus surgery. Our goal was to determine bunionectomyspecific thresholds using

The complex mode of action of the topoisomerase II inhibitor etoposide in triggering apoptosis involves several mechanisms: overexpression of the mitochondrial protein VDAC1, leading to its oligomerization and formation of a large channel that mediates the release of pro‐apoptotic protein; and overexpression of the apoptosis regulators p53, Bax, and ...

Extracting Scalar Measures from Curves [PDF]
The ability to order outcomes is necessary to make comparisons which is complicated when there is no natural ordering on the space of outcomes, as in the case of functional outcomes. This paper examines methods for extracting a scalar summary from functional or longitudinal outcomes based on an average rate of change which can be used to compare curves.

NAD+ regeneration by mitochondrial complex I NADH dehydrogenase is important for cancer cell proliferation. Specifically, NAD+ is necessary for the activities of NAD+‐dependent deacetylases SIRT3 and SIRT7, which suppress the expression of p21Cip1 cyclin‐dependent kinase inhibitor, an antiproliferative molecule, at the translational and transcriptional

In molecular cancer diagnostics, comprehensive genomic profiling (CGP) is going to replace the small NGS panels since it provides all clinically relevant somatic variants as well as genomic biomarkers with clinical value. Here, we compared two CGP assays and demonstrate that the choice for diagnostic implementation will depend on the specific ...

Patient-driven research priorities for patient-centered measurement
Background Patient-centred measurement (PCM) emphasizes a holistic approach wherein the voices of patients are reflected in the standardized use of patient-reported outcome and experience measures and are represented throughout the continuum of ...
