Lateral effects in pattern vision

open access: yesJournal of Vision, 2019
There is a large literature on lateral effects in pattern vision but no consensus about them or comprehensive model of them. This paper reviews the literature with a focus on the effects of parallel context in the central fovea. It describes seven experiments that measure detection and discrimination thresholds in annular and Gabor-pattern contexts at ...

Organoids in pediatric cancer research

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Organoid technology has revolutionized cancer research, yet its application in pediatric oncology remains limited. Recent advances have enabled the development of pediatric tumor organoids, offering new insights into disease biology, treatment response, and interactions with the tumor microenvironment.

Recent Weakening of the Global Radiative Feedback

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters
Earth's climate stability, characterized by the global radiative feedback parameter (λ), varies decadally due to changing surface temperature patterns.

Changes of summer meteorological drought and their relationship with the dry and wet circulation patterns in the Huai River basin, China

open access: yesJournal of Hydrology: Regional Studies
Study region: Huai River basin, China. Study focus: There has been much research on the changes of droughts in the Huai River basin (HRB), China, however, the recent changes of meteorological drought and the relationship with circulation patterns are not

Effect of dispersion medium and dominated evaporation on the pattern formation of colloidal suspension

open access: yes, 2011
We study the effect of dispersion medium and dominated evaporation on the drying process and pattern of thin liquid layer colloidal suspention. Panasonic camera is used to capture the drying process and macroscopic pattern.

Reciprocal control of viral infection and phosphoinositide dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Phosphoinositides, although scarce, regulate key cellular processes, including membrane dynamics and signaling. Viruses exploit these lipids to support their entry, replication, assembly, and egress. The central role of phosphoinositides in infection highlights phosphoinositide metabolism as a promising antiviral target.

Mobile Phone and its Effect on Foetal Cardiotocography Pattern [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Clinical and Diagnostic Research, 2018
Introduction: Mobile phones have become a part and parcel of our every day’s life. As they operate by creating an electromagnetic field therefore, there are concerns for their safety while using in pregnancy.

Mechanisms of pattern processing in olfactory bulb-like circuits [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
The scope of brain research spans several orders of magnitude ranging from small groups of amino acid residues in ion channels to fMRI signals reflecting activity averaged over thousands of neurones. From a theoreticians point of view very interesting

Spatiotemporal and quantitative analyses of phosphoinositides – fluorescent probe—and mass spectrometry‐based approaches

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Fluorescent probes allow dynamic visualization of phosphoinositides in living cells (left), whereas mass spectrometry provides high‐sensitivity, isomer‐resolved quantitation (right). Their synergistic use captures complementary aspects of lipid signaling. This review illustrates how these approaches reveal the spatiotemporal regulation and quantitative

Spatiotemporal dynamics of a modified Leslie–Gower predator–prey model: Effects of diffusion and taxis-driven movements on pattern formation

open access: yesNonlinear Analysis
In this manuscript, we investigate a Leslie–Gower predator–prey model with Crowley–Martin-type functional response. We also explore the dynamics of reaction–diffusion as well as reaction–diffusion–advection model.
