Lorentz TEM imaging of stripe structures embedded in a soft magnetic matrix

open access: yes, 2015
N\'eel walls in soft magnetic NiFe/NiFeGa hybrid stripe structures surrounded by a NiFe film are investigated by high resolution Lorentz transmission electron microscopic imaging.

Genetic attenuation of ALDH1A1 increases metastatic potential and aggressiveness in colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aldehyde dehydrogenase 1A1 (ALDH1A1) is a cancer stem cell marker in several malignancies. We established a novel epithelial cell line from rectal adenocarcinoma with unique overexpression of this enzyme. Genetic attenuation of ALDH1A1 led to increased invasive capacity and metastatic potential, the inhibition of proliferation activity, and ultimately ...

Dimethyl fumarate combined with cisplatin at subcytotoxic doses sensitizes cervical cancer toward ferroptosis and apoptosis through GSH restriction and p53 (re)activation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dimethyl fumarate (DMF) reduces growth of HPV‐positive cervical cancer spheroids and induces ferroptosis in cervical cancer cells via blocking SLC7A11/Glutathione (GSH) axis. Combination of subcytotoxic doses of DMF and cisplatin (CDDP) further suppresses spheroid growth and drives cell death in 2D culture models.

Differential methylation reveals pathways associated with sex differentiation in Chinese tongue sole (Cynoglossus semilaevis)

open access: yesAquaculture and Fisheries
Sex reversal is a complex biological phenomenon that occurs in Cynoglossus semilaevis. Some genetic females may irreversibly convert to pseudomales, thus increasing aquaculture costs because males grow much more slowly than females.

Comparative study of urinary sodium excretion in hypertensives versus normotensives [PDF]

open access: yesAl Ameen Journal of Medical Sciences, 2019
Objective: To examine the pattern of urinary sodium excretion in hypertensive patients and comparison of the results with those from the normotensive subjects; as well this study further quantified the diurnal variations.

Autophagy Impairment Is Associated With Increased Inflammasome Activation and Reversal Reaction Development in Multibacillary Leprosy

open access: yesFrontiers in Immunology, 2018
Leprosy reactions are responsible for incapacities in leprosy and represent the major cause of permanent neuropathy. The identification of biomarkers able to identify patients more prone to develop reaction could contribute to adequate clinical ...

Targeted modulation of IGFL2‐AS1 reveals its translational potential in cervical adenocarcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cervical adenocarcinoma patients face worse outcomes than squamous cell carcinoma counterparts despite similar treatment. The identification of IGFL2‐AS1's differential expression provides a molecular basis for distinguishing these histotypes, paving the way for personalized therapies and improved survival in vulnerable populations globally.

Current Helicity in Response to Coronal Mass Ejections

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
Coronal mass ejections (CMEs), powerful solar eruptions with massive plasma ejected into the interplanetary space, are caused by the release of the magnetic free energy stored in coronal electric currents.
