Effects of Pavement Conditions on Effective Structural Number of In-Service Pavements
Airfield and Highway Pavement 2013, 2013Pavement structural number (SN), which is an important property used in the design of new and rehabilitated pavement systems, may be calculated based on Falling Weight Deflectometer (FWD) deflections. The objective of this study is to investigate the relationship between pavement distresses as performance indicators, pavement condition indices, and the

A modified pavement condition rating index for flexible pavement evaluation in Egypt
Innovative Infrastructure Solutions, 2020Pavement evaluation is conducted to assess the functional and/or structural condition of existing pavement systems which can be done on project or network levels. Through pavement condition assessment, pavement deterioration models can be established and thus maintenance and rehabilitation alternatives can be proposed.

Influence of pavement condition on horizontal curve safety
Accident Analysis & Prevention, 2013Crash statistics suggest that horizontal curves are the most vulnerable sites for crash occurrence. These crashes are often severe and many involve at least some level of injury due to the nature of the collisions. Ensuring the desired pavement surface condition is one potentially effective strategy to reduce the occurrence of severe accidents on ...

Thermomechanical characterisation of asphalt pavements in laboratory conditions
International Journal of Pavement Engineering, 2010Due to the viscoelastic properties of bituminous concrete, temperature changes result in significant mechanical effects. This paper proposes a method to assess first the intrinsic thermophysical parameters (thermal conductivity and heat capacity)of a bituminous mix then to characterize its mechanical behaviour by performing complex modulus tests.

DEVELOPMENT OF A COMPOSITE PAVEMENT PERFORMANCE INDEX TO MONITOR THE PAVEMENT CONDITION IN UPNM
Journal of Defence Science, Engineering & Technology, 2020Road surface condition of a pavement is one of the most important pavements features as it affects the dynamic load of vehicles travelling on it, the quality of travel and the vehicle operating cost. It is important to maintain a good road surface condition in order to promote safety and to reduce traffic accidents and injuries. The Composite Pavement

A Mobile Application for the Crowdsensing of Road Pavements Conditions
2025 IEEE 22nd Consumer Communications & Networking Conference (CCNC)Urban environments face significant challenges due to deteriorating road pavements, affecting all transportation modes' safety and comfort. Traditional methods of road assessment are costly and infrequent, but advancements in mobile technology and crowdsensing offer real-time, large-scale data collection solutions. This paper introduces 'ShakeSensing',
