Abstract The performance warranty system is quite innovative in requiring a contractor’s warranty for pavement performance over a certain period of time. European countries adopted performance warranty systems about 40 years ago. The United States adopted this system in the early 1990s to improve construction quality and performance, as ...

Evaluation of Pavement Edge Drains and the Effect on Pavement Performance
1994This report documents the performance of highway edge drains in Kentucky. Approximately eighteen high edge drain installations were inspected. The report also documents the laboratory testing, construction, short-term and long-term performance of these systems. Construction inspection and maintenance are addressed.

Of Pavement Deflection and Performance
Applications of Advanced Technologies in Transportation Engineering (2004), 2004There are three flexible pavement failure modes, namely, fatigue crack, thermal crack and deformation (rutting). When pavement layer materials are properly designed and constructed, the source of rutting is from permanent deformation of the subgrade. Of these failure modes, fatigue crack and rutting are related to number of load repetition and thermal ...

PERFORMANCE AND REPAIR OF UTW PAVEMENTS
Proceedings of the International Conference on Concrete Pavements, 2001Since its inception in the early 1990s, ultra-thin whitetopping (UTW) technique has rapidly developed into a viable pavement rehabilitation alternative for deteriorated asphalt pavement. The development of the mechanistic design procedure in 1997 represented a milestone in the development of this technology.

Effect of WMA-RAP technology on pavement performance of asphalt mixture: A state-of-the-art review
, 2020Warm mix asphalt (WMA) can be mixed and compacted at low temperature to reduce energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions. Reclaimed asphalt pavement (RAP) can save asphalt binder and aggregate, which can achieve the better reclaimed effects with ...

Performance measures considered for flexible and rigid surfaced pavements and the threshold values for these measures are reported. A survey was sent to members of the Joint Technical Committee on Pavements, and 14 of 20 states responded. Performance measures for flexible pavements included international roughness index (IRI), rutting, and cracking ...
