Pavement Roughness In Kentucky [PDF]
Over two hundred pavement sections in Kentucky have been periodically measured for pavement roughness over a period of several years. This pavement service-life historical data can be used to assess quality of construction, pavement service-life, present and anticipated pavement condition.

Pavement Roughness Measurement and Evaluation [PDF]
Vertical accelerations of a passenger in an automobile are automatically summed while traveling a section of road at 51.5 mph. A roughness index is obtained by summing the accelerations and dividing by the time elapsed during the test. The index is subjectively related to the riding quality of pavements.

Pavement Roughness Studies [PDF]
Road roughness testing in Kentucky was first reported in 1949 (1). At that time, emphasis was placed on localized irregularities in pavement profiles detectable by a roller-type straight edge. The experience gained then pointed to the necessity for making a fast, continuous recording of characteristics of the road which would be more closely related to
