Tailoring Li‐ion Storage and Transport in Two‐Dimensional Conjugated Metal‐Organic Frameworks via Precise Nitrogen Incorporation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Two nitrogen‐doped 2D conjugated metal‐organic frameworks (2D c‐MOFs, namely Cu‐Nx‐OHBA, x = 2 or 4) are synthesized, featuring precise nitrogen incorporation via rational ligand design. The Cu‐Nx‐OHBA 2D c‐MOFs are largely tailorable by varying skeletal nitrogen density, with respect to electrical conductivity, Li‐storage capacitance, and Li‐transport

Performance degradation of porous asphalt pavements

open access: yes, 2003
The degradation of the acoustical properties of porous asphalt pavements is universally recognised. However the real evolution of these properties is difficult to evaluate as many factors can influence the measurement results making the analysis not ...

Mechanistic-Empirical Evaluation for the Inclusion of Tire-Derived Aggregates in Rigid and Flexible Pavements [PDF]

open access: yes
This study evaluates the performance of flexible and rigid pavement structures incorporating tire-derived aggregate (TDA) layers. TDAs, lightweight and cost-effective materials, were characterized through laboratory testing and large-scale box ...

Unraveling MXene Oxidation Mechanisms Under Realistic Gas Environments by In Situ Gas‐Cell TEM

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Real‐time visualization of MXene degradation reveals a fundamental oxidation mechanism under oxygen and moisture environments. Using in situ gas‐cell electron microscopy, this study demonstrates that oxygen degradation drives a thermodynamically controlled high‐temperature transformation into mixed rutile/anatase phases.

Defining the Attributes of Good In-Service Portland Cement Concrete Pavements, December 2004

open access: yes, 2004
Much of the current research in portland cement concrete (PCC) pavements deals with the analysis of early pavement life failures and seeks to find ways to prevent those from reoccurring.

Extremely Long Electron Lifetime in Spontaneously Passivated Polycrystalline Perovskite Layers via Illumination‐Assisted Trap Filling

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Perovskite solar cells (PSCs) are promising next‐generation photovoltaics. The high performance of PSCs is attributed to the long carrier lifetimes of perovskite photoabsorbers. However, the carrier lifetimes of polycrystalline perovskite layers, which serve as the photoabsorbers in practical PSCs, have remained limited to several tens of ...

Ultrasmall High‐Entropy Materials: Nanoscale Effects, Synthesis, and Mechanistic Insights

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This review article focuses on sub‐10 nm high‐entropy materials that combine nanoscale design with complex compositions for next‐generation applications. ABSTRACT Ultrasmall high‐entropy nanomaterials (USHENMs, <10 nm) merge multicomponent chemistry with size‐dependent effects, forming a distinct class of materials with unprecedented properties.

Structural analysis of asphalt pavements on collector rural roads

open access: yes, 2007
Many of the Italian collector rural roads have been built on historical ancient roads. For this reason they present particular features that differentiate these pavements from highway pavement structures for which traditional design and structural ...

Pickering‐Engineered Microparticles for Magnetically Guided Motion and Light‐Triggered Catalysis

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Magnetically responsive wax microparticles stabilized by hematite cubes through the Pickering emulsification strategy are developed, showing controlled size, motion, and light‐activated catalytic activity. Annealing under a magnetic field enhances their mobility and steering.
