The Pax3-FKHR oncoprotein is unresponsive to the Pax3-associated repressor hDaxx [PDF]

open access: yesEMBO Journal, 1999
The Pax3-FKHR fusion protein is present in alveolar rhabdomyosarcoma and results from the t(2;13) (q35;q14) chromosomal translocation. Its oncogenic activity is dependent on a combination of protein-DNA and protein-protein interactions mediated by the Pax3 homeodomain recognition helix.

Cell-type-specific regulation of distinct sets of gene targets by Pax3 and Pax3/FKHR [PDF]

open access: yesOncogene, 2005
The oncogenic fusion protein, Pax3/FKHR, is a more potent transcription factor relative to its normal counterpart, Pax3. Since Pax3 induced a mesenchymal to epithelial transition (MET) in human SaOS-2 osteosarcomas, we hypothesized that Pax3/FKHR would also induce a morphological change in SaOS-2 cells.

PAX3 and PAX3-FKHR promote rhabdomyosarcoma cell survival through downregulation of PTEN

Cancer Letters, 2007
PAX3 or PAX3-FKHR expression is implicated in cell transformation and tumourigenesis. Here, C2C12 myoblasts were transfected with a sense Pax3 vector and a pTet-On system to induce Pax3 expression, whereas to downregulate PAX3-FKHR, Rh18 was transfected with an antisense Pax3 with a pTet-On system.

PAX3 and PAX7 as upstream regulators of myogenesis

Seminars in Cell and Developmental Biology, 2015
Like other subclasses within the PAX transcription factor family, PAX3 and PAX7 play important roles in the emergence of a number of different tissues during development. PAX3 regulates neural crest and, together with its orthologue PAX7, is also expressed in parts of the central nervous system.

PAX3‐FOXO1 and FGFR4 in alveolar rhabdomyosarcoma

Molecular Carcinogenesis, 2011
AbstractWe and others have identified FGFR4 as a direct transcriptional target of the alveolar rhabdomyosarcoma (ARMS) specific fusion protein, PAX3‐FOXO1. We hypothesized fibroblast growth factor receptor 4 (FGFR4) may act as an effector of PAX3‐FOXO1, contributing to PAX3‐FOXO1 tumorigenic phenotypes.
