[Toxicity of mushrooms Paxillus involutus and Paxillus atrotomentosus].
Anesteziologiia i reanimatologiia, 2002Thirty-eight patients with mushroom (Paxillus involutus and Paxillus atrotomentosus) poisoning were treated. Slight poisoning (acute gastroenteritis) was diagnosed in 17 patients, medium-severe in 13, severe in 6, and extremely severe in 2 patients. Changes in the LPO-AOD system correlated with the severity of hepatorenal involvement.

Paxillus rubicundulus P.D. Orton has been shown to be a complex of at least three ectomycorrhizal taxa strictly associated with alders (Alnus) in Europe, P. rubicundulus s. str., and two undescribed clades. To assess the taxonomic status of these three clades and their phylogenetic relationships, phylogenetic analyses of two independent gene regions ...

Zinc tolerance of Amanita and Paxillus
Transactions of the British Mycological Society, 1985Isolates of Amanita muscaria and Paxillus involutus from sites showing a range of levels of zinc contamination were able to grow on media containing up to about 3 mM zinc, considerably higher than the concentration tolerated by higher plants in parallel experiments. Two isolates of A. muscaria were even more tolerant than this, but no correlation

Structure Studies of the Metabolites of Paxillus involutus
HETEROCYCLES, 2009The chemical components of Paxillus involutus were isolated from the freshly collected fruit bodies. Mainly on the basis of the NMR and ESI-MS data, the structures of the unknown pigments were determined as 4-(3,4-dihydroxyphenyl)-2-(4-hydroxyphenyl)-2-(2-pyrrolidon-5-yl)-4-cyclopentene-1,3-dione and (4Z)-5-hydroxy-2-(3,4-dihydroxyphenyl)-5-(4 ...

Short-term toxicity study of Paxillus involutus in the rat
Food and Cosmetics Toxicology, 1977Summary The toxicity of Paxillus involutus , a wild mushroom gathered near the Arctic Circle in Finland, was studied in the rat. When the dried homogenized mushroom in aqueous suspension was administered to male rats by gastric intubation in daily doses of 50 or 250 mg/kg body weight for 40 days, no toxic signs were observed, there being no ...

Selected elements of Poison Pax Paxillus involutus
Journal of Environmental Science and Health, Part A, 2007Concentrations of Ag, Al, Ba, Ca, Cd, Co, Cu, Cr, Cs, Fe, Ga, Hg, K, Mg, Mn, Mo, Na, Ni, Pb, Rb, Se, Sb, Sr, V, Tl and Zn have been determined in the whole fruiting bodies as well as separately in caps and stalks of Poison Pax collected from three geographically distant sites across Poland. The elements were determined using ICP-MS, ICP-OES, HG-AAS and

Cytotoxicity of extracts from the mushroom Paxillus involutus
Toxicon, 1996The cytotoxicity of extracts of freshly collected Paxillus involutus against murine (L929 and RAW 264.7) and human (HeLa and EAhy926) derived cell lines was investigated. The water extract (15.6-1000 micrograms/ml) did not affect the viability of cells, while the butanol extract reduced cell viability by 30-45% at the highest concentration tested (1 mg/

Polyamine biosynthesis in the ectomycorrhizal fungus Paxillus involutus exposed to zinc
Letters in Applied Microbiology, 1995When P. involutus was exposed to 6 g ml −1 or 24 g ml −1 lead for 2 wk, lead accumulated substantially in fungal tissues over the period, with no significant effect on fungal fresh weight. Although exposure to the metal was associated with reduced ornithine decarboxylase (ODC) activity, this was accompanied by greatly increased putrescine and ...
