Concurrency and Privacy with Payment-Channel Networks [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the 2017 ACM SIGSAC Conference on Computer and Communications Security, 2017
Permissionless blockchains protocols such as Bitcoin are inherently limited in transaction throughput and latency. Current efforts to address this key issue focus on off-chain payment channels that can be combined in a Payment-Channel Network (PCN) to enable an unlimited number of payments without requiring to access the blockchain other than to ...

An evaluation of cryptocurrency payment channel networks and their privacy implications [PDF]

open access: yesITU Journal on Future and Evolving Technologies, 2021
Cryptocurrencies redefined how money can be stored and transferred among users. However, public blockchain-based cryptocurrencies suffer from high transaction waiting times and fees. To address these challenges, the payment channel network concept is touted as the most viable solution to be used for micro-payments.

SoK: Payment Channel Networks

open access: yes2024 Conference on Building a Secure & Empowered Cyberspace (BuildSEC)
Payment Channel Networks (PCNs) have been proposed as an alternative solution to the scalability, throughput, and cost overhead problems associated with blockchain transactions. By facilitating offchain execution of transactions, PCNs significantly reduce the burden on the blockchain, leading to faster transaction processing, reduced transaction fees ...

PaySwitch: Smart Contract-Based Payment Switch for Off-Chain Payment Channel Networks

open access: yesIEEE Access
Payment channel networks (PCNs) are a viable solution to the issue of blockchain scalability by offering off-chain transactions between two untrusted peers, without committing each transaction to the blockchain.

Current Status and Challenges in Data Collection for Aerospace Coatings Deposited by Plasma Spraying

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
An innovative approach has been integrated into the GRENAT project to optimize plasma spraying and coating performance. Raw materials are accelerated and melted in the plasma generated by torches, creating coatings. Monitoring sensors collect process data which are combined with ex situ characterization data.

Functional Blood‐Brain Barrier Crossing by Biomimetic M13 Phage Vectors for Targeted Neuronal Delivery

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This study investigates the M13 bacteriophage as a biomimetic nanovector capable of crossing in vitro models of the blood–brain barrier. By exploiting peculiar transcellular pathways, M13 avoids lysosomal degradation and preserves its structural integrity and functionality.
