CuO nanopowder for removal of Pb(II) and Zn(II) [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Environmental Engineering and Science, 2015
Metal oxide nanopowder, namely copper oxide nanopowder, was prepared. The produced metal oxide was characterised and used as a potential adsorbent for removal of lead(II) and zinc(II) from an aqueous solution. The rate of uptake of lead(II) and zinc(II) was found to be rapid in the first 10 min, and after 150 min, the amount of lead(II) and zinc(II ...

Therapeutic Apheresis for Intravenous Methylprednisolone‐Refractory Neuromyelitis Optica Spectrum Disorder: Clinical and Radiological Outcomes in a Single‐Center Case Series

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorder (NMOSD) is a relapsing autoimmune disease of the central nervous system. High‐dose intravenous methylprednisolone (IVMP) is the standard first‐line therapy for acute attacks, although some patients remain refractory.

Infection Control Practices for Vascular Access Management in Hemodialysis: Results From a Nationwide Survey of Japanese National University Hospitals

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Bloodstream infections due to repeated vascular access (VA) puncture and circuit connections remain major concerns in hemodialysis. Therefore, we examined current practices for glove, disinfectant, and personal protective equipment (PPE) use according to VA type in national university hospitals in Japan.

Determination of the Physiological Maturity Point and Establishment of Physical Dormancy in Hymenaea martiana Seeds

open access: yesAgronomy
In forest species with physical dormancy, defining the ideal harvest point is challenging because of the limited understanding of the relationships among maturation, physiological quality, and seed dormancy.

The adsorption of Cd(II) and Pb(II) to chitin in seawater [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Colloid and Interface Science, 1990
The adsorption of Cd2+ and Pb2+ to the surface of chitin has been studied in seawater as a function of pH (2 to 8), temperature (5 to 60°C), salinity (4 to 36), and the presence of other transition metals. The rates of adsorption were quite rapid () and were affected by the presence of other metals such as Cu2+.
