Breaking the Boundary between Permanent Capital Farmland and Arable Land in China: Understanding State and Drivers of Permanent Capital Farmland Non-Grain Production in a Rapid Urbanizing County

open access: yesLand
Amid unprecedented challenges to protect arable land, China’s permanent capital farmland (PCF) has played a crucial role in grain production. However, a clear legal and physical boundary between PCF and arable land seems to be unable to stop the spread ...

Establishing a Model Precursor System: Over a Decade of Research on Carbon Dots from the Citric Acid‐Urea System

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The citric acid/urea (CA‐Urea) precursor system offers a versatile, scalable route to carbon dots with tunable luminescence and multifunctionality. Mechanistic insights into precursor chemistry and reaction parameters have enabled doping, surface modification, and hybridization strategies, yielding CDs for luminescent devices, sensing, catalysis ...

Sensing and Filtering Environmental Fluctuations: The Case of Biomolecular Condensates in Plants

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The diversity of plant condensates reflects constraints of sessile organisms to coordinate postembryonic development with environmental adaptation. This review examines how plants employ condensates to integrate temperature, light, redox, and nutrient signals.

Design of bent photonic crystal fiber supporting a single polarization [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
In this work, it is shown that the differential loss between the TE- and TM-polarized fundamental modes in a highly birefringent photonic crystal fiber (PCF) can be enhanced by bending the fiber.

Redescription of the Triassic cynodont Cistecynodon parvus and reassessment of its phylogeny

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, EarlyView.
Abstract Cynodontia is an important subclade of Therapsida that first occurred in the late Permian. It includes extinct subclades which are the non‐mammaliaform cynodonts and Mammaliaformes, with the latter ultimately giving rise to crown mammals. The systematics of non‐mammaliaform cynodonts has been extensively studied and is relatively well‐resolved,

M-PCF: modified IEEE 802.11 PCF protocol implementing QoS

open access: yesElectronics Letters, 2002
A modified IEEE 802.11 PCF protocol, M-PCF is presented, which can supply different service policy to different services with different requirements on QoS. Analysis and simulation show that the M-PCF protocol can improve real-time quality and network throughput by modifying the polling scheme of PCF.

How Corporations Operationalize Climate‐Related Risks and Opportunities: Evidence From Qualitative Expert Interviews

open access: yesBusiness Strategy and the Environment, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Climate‐related risks and opportunities have become a central concern for companies as climate change increasingly affects business models, value chains, and long‐term competitiveness. However, limited evidence exists about how corporations confront the attendant practical and strategic challenges of climate‐related risk and opportunity ...

Numerical Investigation of the Optical Properties for Multiple PCF Structures in the THz Regime

open access: yesSensing and Bio-Sensing Research, 2021
This paper presents three different PCF structures including circular, hexagonal, and square holes forming four rings. To investigate various optical properties, simulation has been performed in between 1 THz to 2 THz regimes. Using these PCF structures,

Too Complex to Control? How Firms Navigate Scope 3 Governance Under Institutional Uncertainty

open access: yesBusiness Strategy and the Environment, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT As Scope 3 emissions make up the largest share of many firms' carbon footprints, firms face growing pressure to manage emissions beyond their direct control. Ongoing revisions of the CSRD, the GHG Protocol, and the SBTi Net‐Zero Standard further increase regulatory and methodological uncertainty.
