A new formulation of the PCM solvation method: PCM-QINTn

Theoretical Chemistry Accounts: Theory, Computation, and Modeling (Theoretica Chimica Acta), 1997
A new formulation of the PCM electrostatic solution problem is proposed. Through a new derivation of the PCM-CLSn expression we propose an interpolation formula that improved the convergence: PCM-QINTn. All the available formulations are applied to the evaluation of the electrostatic component of the free energy of solvation for some molecular systems.

Thermal management of metal roof building using phase change material (PCM)

, 2021
The energy consumption of the buildings for cooling, especially during the days of high solar exposure is large due to the increased indoor temperature. The roof of the building contributes more for this cause by allowing a large quantity of heat during ...

The PCM Model

2013
This chapter introduces to the basic definitions of the PCM model for a molecular solute. The basic electrostatic problem for the determination of the solute-solvent interaction is described within the Integral Equation Formalism (IEF-PCM), and the QM problem associated to the effective Hamiltonian of the molecular solute is formulated in terms of a ...

Energy efficiency optimization of PCM and aerogel-filled multiple glazing windows

, 2021
The present work numerically investigated the energy performance of ten different glazing configurations in the severe cold climate of China. Furthermore, the thermal behavior of the glass windows filled with silica aerogel or PCM was analyzed and ...

An Integrated Interpolative PCM Decoder

IEEE Transactions on Communications, 1979
Discusses the technique of time averaging interpolation which provides a means for obtaining telephone quality digital-to-analog conversion using conventional digital integrated-circuit processing. Describes a monolithic circuit that decodes the 8-kHz companded PCM commonly used in voiceband communication systems.

Optical and thermal performance of glazing units containing PCM in buildings: A review

, 2020
Glazing units are important for providing passive solar gain and air ventilation in buildings, but their thermal performance is very poor compared to other building components, which results that energy loss from building envelope becomes much more ...

Thermal properties and applications of microencapsulated PCM for thermal energy storage: A review

Applied Thermal Engineering, 2019
Phase change materials (PCM) are characterized by storing a large amount of thermal energy while changing from one phase to another phase (normally solid–liquid states) at a certain temperature.
