Polychlorinated naphthalenes (PCNs) in food and humans

open access: yesEnvironment International, 2017
(Uploaded by Plazi for the Bat Literature Project) Polychlorinated naphthalenes (PCNs) are legacy contaminants that are listed by the Stockholm convention, initially for reduction of inadvertent production and ultimately, for elimination. They originate through releases from older electrical equipment, inadvertent contamination in industrial chemicals ...

Reduction of PCN biosynthesis by NO in Pseudomonas aeruginosa

open access: yesRedox Biology, 2016
Pyocyanin (PCN), a virulence factor synthesized by Pseudomonas aeruginosa, plays an important role during clinical infections. There is no study of the effect of nitric oxide (NO) on PCN biosynthesis. Here, the effect of NO on PCN levels in Pseudomonas aeruginosa strain PAO1, a common reference strain, was tested.

Use of patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs) in primary care-based mental health programming: an environmental scan of Alberta, Canada

open access: yesBMC Primary Care
Background Many Primary Care Networks (PCNs) in Alberta collect Patient Reported Outcome Measures (PROMs) to support patient-centered care. However, there is limited knowledge on what tools are currently being administered across PCNs and how the data is

A systematic scoping review of metrics utilized to measure antibiotic consumption in hospital settings

open access: yesBritish Journal of Clinical Pharmacology, EarlyView.
Abstract Antimicrobial stewardship (AMS) programs were introduced to promote the judicious use of antimicrobials and to combat antimicrobial resistance. Quantifying antibiotic consumption is an important part of AMS initiatives to achieve these objectives.

Monosubstituted N‐Arylhydroxylamine Chemistry: Integrating Contemporary Synthetic Approaches for the Efficient Construction of Diverse Heterocyclic Scaffolds

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
Monosubstituted N‐arylhydroxylamines represent a unique subclass of hydroxylamines that act as pivotal intermediates in redox transformations and as versatile platforms for further synthetic transformations. They serve as key building blocks in the synthesis of architecturally complex heterocycles and other valuable organic compounds.

Neuroimaging features of primary central nervous system post-transplantation lymphoproliferative disorder following hematopoietic stem cell transplant in patients with β-thalassemia: a case series and review of literature

open access: yesInsights into Imaging
Purpose Primary central nervous system post-transplantation lymphoproliferative disorder (PCNS-PTLD) is a rare but serious complication of hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) in patients with severe β-thalassemia.

Single‐Step Synthesis of Dithieno[3,2‐b:2′,3′‐e]Pyridines and Their Acid‐Dependent Optical and Photosensitising Properties

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
The synthesis of dithieno[3,2‐b:2′,3′‐e]pyridines (DTPs) is herein reported, and their optical properties are studied both experimentally and computationally. Protonation or methylation of the nitrogen atom induced bathochromic shifts in their absorption and emission spectra.

Polychlorinated naphthalenes in the serum of individuals with thyroid dysfunction and their potential mechanisms of impact on disease progression

open access: yesEmerging Contaminants
Polychlorinated naphthalenes (PCNs) comprise 75 congeners, with varying concentrations and major congeners across different populations. Recent studies have found a relationship between PCNs and thyroid hormone levels, suggesting they may interfere with ...
