Magnetic resonance venography and computed tomography venography in pelvic venous disease

open access: yesTurkish Journal of Vascular Surgery, 2021
The purpose of this article is to highlight the advantages and disadvantages of magnetic resonance venography (MRV) and computed tomography venography (CTV) in diagnosing and evaluating pelvic venous disease (PeVD).

Multifaceted involvements of Paneth cells in various diseases within intestine and systemically

open access: yesFrontiers in Immunology, 2023
Serving as the guardians of small intestine, Paneth cells (PCs) play an important role in intestinal homeostasis maintenance. Although PCs uniquely exist in intestine under homeostasis, the dysfunction of PCs is involved in various diseases not only in ...

The Shewanella oneidensis Fic enzyme SoFic targets the switch‐I region of EF‐Tu for AMPylation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Fic enzymes mediate diverse post‐translational modifications across all domains of life, including AMPylation. Prokaryotic EF‐Tu can be AMPylated and deAMPylated by the conserved Fic enzyme SoFic. Structural and biochemical approaches were used to characterize the effect of AMPylation on EF‐Tu, SoFic's enzymatic activities, and the enzyme‐target ...

Highly efficient carrier multiplication in inverted CdSe/HgSe quantum dots mediated by magnetic impurities

open access: yesNature Communications
Incorporating manganese (Mn) impurities into II-VI semiconductors alters their properties through strong exchange interactions with the host material.

Smaller is better: nanobodies meet NMR

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Nanobodies are single‐domain antigen‐binding fragments derived from camelid heavy chain antibodies. Their small size, high stability, and exceptional specificity make nanobodies uniquely useful probes for NMR studies of protein dynamics, transient conformational states, and protein–protein interactions.

Transcriptional profiling of circulating extracellular vesicles from prebiopsy prostate cancer patients

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
RNA profiling of circulating extracellular vesicles (EVs) from blood samples of men undergoing prostate biopsy identifies transcripts associated with clinically significant prostate cancer. Integrative analysis with public tumor datasets links EV‐derived gene signatures to tumor stage and progression‐free survival, highlighting CASP3, XRCC2, and RIT1 ...

Comparative nesting success of the keyhole mud-dauber (Hymenoptera, Crabronidae, Trypoxylon nitidum) in different substrates

open access: yesJournal of Hymenoptera Research, 2016
The solitary wasp Trypoxylon nitidum F. Smith nests in a variety of existing cavities. Nesting success – the fraction of completed, provisioned cells that produced adult offspring – can be estimated by examination of old cells.

Mesenchymal properties of iPSC-derived neural progenitors that generate undesired grafts after transplantation

open access: yesCommunications Biology, 2023
Although neural stem/progenitor cells derived from human induced pluripotent stem cells (hiPSC-NS/PCs) are expected to be a cell source for cell-based therapy, tumorigenesis of hiPSC-NS/PCs is a potential problem for clinical applications.

Developmental programmes drive cellular plasticity, disease progression and therapy resistance in lung adenocarcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study shows that lung adenocarcinomas exploit developmental branching morphogenesis to acquire a therapy resistant basal‐like tumour cell state. This process was found to be regulated by combined TP53 loss‐of‐function and type‐I interferon signalling, identifying a novel axis for biomarker and therapeutic target discovery.

Persistence and Stability of a Food Chain Model with Mixed Selection of Functional Responses

open access: yesNonlinear Analysis, 2006
One approach to the study of an ecological community begins with an important object: its food web. Theoretical studies of food web must contend with the question of how to couple the large number of interacting species. One line of investigation assumes
