Porcine Corneal Tissue and Xenozoonotic Risks: A Review of the Current Evidence
ABSTRACT Corneal opacities affect millions worldwide, with corneal transplantation as the primary treatment. However, donor shortages remain a challenge, leaving thousands waiting for transplants. Xenotransplantation using porcine corneas has emerged as a promising alternative due to anatomical and physiological similarities with human corneas ...

The Evaluation of a Porcine Circovirus Type 2 (PCV2) Intradermal Vaccine Against a PCV2 Field Strain
Background/Objectives: Porcine circovirus type 2 (PCV2) has a major impact on swine productivity. Vaccines are used to aid in control and mitigate production losses. We investigated the protection provided by an intradermal PCV2 vaccine against a field strain in Taiwan. Methods: We conducted a safety and efficacy study.

Replicative intermediates of porcine circovirus in animal tissue cultured cells or in bacteria undergoing copy-release replication [PDF]
Porcine circovirus (PCV) has been assumed to replicate its genome via the rolling-circle replication (RCR) mechanism because it encodes a Rep protein that contains several amino acid motifs commonly found in other RCR biological systems.

Porcine circovirus type 2 (PCV2) genotyping in Austrian pigs in the years 2002 to 2017
Background Eight different PCV2 genotypes with varying prevalence and clinical impact have been described so far. PCV2 infection is still widespread among the vaccinated population and several experimental studies have clearly demonstrated that there is ...

Seroepidemiology of porcine toxoplasmosis: A cross‐sectional study in Bosnia and Herzegovina
This study presents the first documentation of Toxoplasma gondii infection in animals in the Bosnia and Herzegovina. A total of 437 pigs from 87 farms were tested, showing 44.8% of farms and 13.3% of pigs positive for T. gondii, with significant associations found between seropositivity and farming practices.

In the acute phase of ischemic stroke, the proliferation of venous ECs increased, with high ICAM‐1 expression, promoting the infiltration of myeloid cells. In the chronic phase, as venous ECs repaired, their antigen presentation function was enhanced, and VCAM‐1 expression increased, facilitating the infiltration of lymphocytes. ABSTRACT Aims Following

Porcine Circovirus Type 2 (PCV2) Vaccines in the Context of Current Molecular Epidemiology
Porcine circovirus type 2 (PCV2) is an economically important swine pathogen and, although small, it has the highest evolution rate among DNA viruses. Since the discovery of PCV2 in the late 1990s, this minimalistic virus with a 1.7 kb single-stranded ...
