Calibration of capacitive couplers for online PD detection in HV cables
IEEE Electrical Insulation Magazine, 2005Possible online quantification and calibration methods for capacitive couplers have been investigated experimentally. The purpose of the calibration is to ensure that if two different systems are used to measure the same sample, they measure the same "apparent PD magnitude," which is the charge transfer at the sample electrodes.

INRIM–NMC Comparison of Pt/Pd Calibration Above the Ag Point
International Journal of Thermophysics, 2010A comparison of a Pt/Pd calibration above the Ag point between the INRIM and NMC was arranged with the aims of evaluating measurement systems and exploiting the potential of the Pt/Pd thermocouples. Two commercial Pt/Pd thermocouples were used as transfer thermometers.

The effectiveness assessment of calibration and measurement of PD apparent charge quantity
2013 IEEE Electrical Insulation Conference (EIC), 2013In the Partial Discharge (PD) measurement on transformer, the discharge quantity is calculated from the offline calibration. The calibrating waveform is standardized by IEC 60270:2000 with a rise time 6 MHz. But the PD measuring instruments in use are standardized by the same document with an up-band frequency less than 500 kHz. Most of the energy is

Calibrated flow reactor to determine reaction rates: CO–oxidation on Pd(110)
Journal of Vacuum Science and Technology, 1981We describe the construction and the principles of operation of a flow reactor designed to obtain reaction rates of heterogeneous reactions over a wide pressure range. In this communication we restrict the discussion to the low pressure region and demonstrate the performance of the apparatus with transient reaction studies for the CO-oxidation reaction

Calibrating the UHF technique of partial discharge detection using a PD simulator
IEEE Transactions on Dielectrics and Electrical Insulation, 1995The paper describes a technique for simulating the presence of partial discharges in gas-insulated substation (GIS) equipment. The technique employs a pulse generator to inject current pulses through a suitable protrusion. The current pulses have similar temporal characteristics to those produced by an actual discharge event, with the added advantage ...

On-beam calibration of the ΔE(Si)–Sci/PD charged particle telescope
Nuclear Instruments and Methods in Physics Research Section A: Accelerators, Spectrometers, Detectors and Associated Equipment, 2001Abstract The reaction products emitted in the 14 N (45 A MeV )+( CH 2 / CD 2 ) interactions are identified by a Δ E (Si)– E (Scintillator/Photodiode) telescope by the conventional Δ E – E method. The position of “jumps” in the amplitude of the photodiode signal for ions passing through the scintillator (Sci) is used to

Influence quantities in the calibration of PD calibrators contribution to the uncertainty estimate
11th International Symposium on High-Voltage Engineering (ISH 99), 1999The numerical integration of the current pulse delivered from a PD calibrator is the easiest way to carry out a performance test of the calibrator itself by using readily available experimental apparatus. The paper discusses the role and the relative importance of the various influence quantities which intervene in the measurement and can contribute to

Use of true PD producing defects for calibration and sensitivity check of UWB PD sensors
2009 IEEE Electrical Insulation Conference, 2009Predictive maintenance of high voltage equipment requires levels of partial discharge warning to trigger corrective action and prevent failures. This leads to the need of establishing a reliable way to compare readings from different on-line and conventional off-line partial discharge detection systems. To achieve comparable results, it is suggested to

Pt/Pd thermocouple resilience over 327 operating hours in an industrial calibration laboratory
AIP Conference Proceedings, 2013Two Pt/Pd thermocouples have been manufactured industrially at CCPI-Europe to a robust design optimised by NPL. The first has been exposed to temperatures up to 1000 °C for 93 operating hours and the second exposed to higher temperatures (up to 1300 °C) for 327 operating hours, over the course of a year.

On the Use of the Co–C Fixed Point for Calibration of Pt/Pd Thermocouples
International Journal of Thermophysics, 2008At INRIM, different Co–C fixed-point cells have been constructed and investigated. Two cells of different design and volume and filled with highly pure cobalt (99.998%) were used to extend the fixed-point calibration of five Pt/Pd thermocouples that had been previously calibrated at the triple point of water and at the fixed points of In, Sn, Zn, Al ...
