Edible Antifungal Coatings Based on Litchi Chinensis Seed Starch Enriched With Pericarp Procyanidins for the Postharvest Preservation of Strawberries

open access: yesFood Chemistry International, EarlyView.
Lychee starch coatings enriched with procyanidins showed strong antifungal activity and effectively preserved strawberry quality postharvest, reducing weight loss, decay, and senescence. This highlights their potential as a sustainable natural alternative for shelf‐life extension and fungal control in fresh produce.

Programmable luminescent platform based on carbon quantum dots enables wavelength‐multiplexed optical data storage and encryption

open access: yesFlexMat, EarlyView.
A carbon‐quantum‐dots (CQDs)‐based programmable luminescent platform is proposed for multidimensional optical information encryption and high‐capacity data storage by leveraging wavelength‐division multiplexing. Furthermore, a prototype tri‐layer optical disk is demonstrated, where data written via laser ablation on different CQD layers are retrieved ...

Litsea cubeba Essential Oil Reduces Postharvest Blueberry Rot by Inducing Cell Membrane Damage and Reactive Oxygen Species Accumulation in Alternaria alternata

open access: yesFuture Postharvest and Food, EarlyView.
Litsea cubeba essential oil (LCEO) reduces blueberry rot while maintaining quality. It disrupts the cellular structure and membranes of Alternaria alternata, causing solute leakage, while simultaneously inducing reactive oxygen species (ROS) accumulation and mitochondrial membrane potential (MMP) damage in the pathogen.

Effect of Storage Temperature and Materials on Protein Quality and Functional Properties of Soybeans

open access: yesFuture Postharvest and Food, EarlyView.
Hermetic PICS bags combined with cool storage (15°C) effectively preserved soybean protein quality and functional properties ([protein solubility, emulsifying capacity, and oil absorption capacity] of soybean protein isolates) during storage. Polypropylene bags and 25°C accelerated protein deterioration lead to significant nutritional losses.
