Where's the peak? (causal signal with average delay)

[Proceedings] ICASSP 91: 1991 International Conference on Acoustics, Speech, and Signal Processing, 1991
Two results are derived concerning the peak (i.e., maximum amplitude) of a causal signal with a given average delay. The first result is that, for an average delay of tau , the maximum possible location of the signal peak is on the order of tau ( tau +3)/2.

On the peaks of causal signals with a given average delay

IEEE Transactions on Signal Processing, 1991
Bounds are derived on the maximum location and minimum amplitude of the peak of a causal signal with a given average delay. For an average delay of tau , the authors show that the maximum possible location of the signal peak is on the order of tau ( tau +3)/2.

Suppression of Peak Noise Caused by Time Delay of the Anti- Noise Source [PDF]

open access: yesEnergy Procedia, 2012
According to the peak noise caused by the delay of the anti noise source, analysis of the periodic signal and non-periodic random signals of different frequencies and different signal superimposed analog delay the case after the noise reduction effect ...

On the generation of delayed peaks in stream discharge

Journal of Hydrology, 1985
Abstract Where deep permeable soils overlie impermeable bedrock and where steep hillslopes border a narrow floodplain, subsurface stormflow dominates the hydrograph. In such cases delayed peaks in stream discharge may occur several days after rainfall, providing the major volumetric response and possibly also the highest peak discharge.

Increased generalization in a peak procedure after delayed reinforcement

Behavioural Processes, 2019
Temporal control of behavior might be impaired by reinforcement devaluation and other motivational operations such as delaying reinforcement of the instrumental response. Here, we report an experiment that assessed the effect of delayed reinforcement on a timing peak procedure.

Tonal Target and Peak Delay in Mandarin Neutral Tone

2018 Oriental COCOSDA - International Conference on Speech Database and Assessments, 2018
We examined the tonal target of the neutral tone syllable, F0 peak delay and the F0 preplanning process in production of Mandarin neutral tone by manipulating the number of neutral tone syllables and the preceding tonal contexts. The results showed that 1) the tonal target of neutral tone was L; 2) its realization was greatly influenced by the number ...

Fundamental Frequency Peak Delay in Mandarin

Phonetica, 2000
Abstract Fundamental frequency (F₀) peak delay (henceforth peak delay) refers to the phenomenon that an F₀ peak sometimes occurs after the syllable it is associated with either lexically or prosodically. Although peak delay has been reported for various languages, the mechanism of its occurrence has so far remained unclear.

Delay-Constrained Source Coding for a Peak Distortion Measure

2007 IEEE International Symposium on Information Theory, 2007
We consider the problem of lossy source coding under a peak distortion measure in which source symbols are revealed to the encoder in real time and need to be reconstructed by the decoder within a fixed end-to-end delay. We investigate the tradeoff between end-to-end delay and the probability of distortion violation.

Peak-to-peak gain minimisation of uncertain discrete-time systems with variable delays

International Journal of Systems, Control and Communications, 2011
In this paper, we provide a novel solution to the problem of peak-to-peak gain minimisation for a class of linear discrete-time systems with time-varying delays. The solution is developed based on minimising the *-norm, which is the best upper bound on the induced L ?-norm generated by bounding the reachable set with inescapable ellipsoids, rather than

Delayed peaks of acetaminophen in overdose patients with concomitant abdominal trauma

Clinical Toxicology, 2020
To present two cases of delayed acetaminophen absorption in abdominal trauma patients with concomitant acetaminophen overdose.Case 1. A 25-year-old female arrived to the emergency department with multiple stab wounds. She had ingested an unknown amount of acetaminophen and was then stabbed by her boyfriend in a suicide pact.
