Empirical Near-Source Attenuation Relationships for Horizontal and Vertical Components of Peak Ground Acceleration, Peak Ground Velocity, and Pseudo-Absolute Acceleration Response Spectra

Seismological Research Letters, 1997
Based on extensive user feedback, it has been determined that there are several errors and ambiguities that need to be corrected in the original manuscript (Campbell, 1997). Some of the errors are the result of typographical errors by the publisher, while others are omissions to the original equations that occurred as an oversight.

Estimation of the peak horizontal ground acceleration based on peak accelerations of the components

Bulletin of the Seismological Society of America, 1982
Abstract Lower and upper bounds of the peak horizontal ground acceleration are obtained through the consideration of the peak accelerations of two horizontal orthogonal components of the ground motion. Since the bounded region is relatively narrow, it is proposed to use the mean of the upper and lower bound accelerations as the peak ...

Synchronization of HTW Peak Responses with Peak Ground Acceleration

Geotechnical Engineering for Transportation Projects, 2004
Pseudo-static analysis of seismic performance of an earth structure based on the assumption of the synchronization of its peak responses with the peak ground acceleration are described in this paper. For a mechanically stabilized earth retaining wall, the acceleration, horizontal wall displacement, earth pressure, bearing pressure, and inclusion ...

Relationship between Peak Ground Acceleration, Peak Ground Velocity, and Intensity in Taiwan

Bulletin of the Seismological Society of America, 2003
Based on the strong-motion data set from the 1999 Chi-Chi, Taiwan, earthquake and a shaking damage statistics database, we investigated the correlations between strong ground motions and earthquake damage (fatalities and building collapses) through a regression analysis.

Magnitude-dependent variance of peak ground acceleration

Bulletin of the Seismological Society of America, 1995
AbstractWe examine the variability of peak horizontal and vertical accelerations of the large California strong-motion data set for the time period 1957 to 1991 and find a statistically significant dependence of the standard error on earthquake magnitude. Specifically, the standard error decreases with increasing magnitude.

Distribution of Earthquake Peak Ground Accelerations for a Construction Site

Seismic Instruments, 2021
To solve the problem of antiseismic strengthening, the integer macroseismic intensity of a building is insufficient, because this intensity cannot describe the seismic hazard of a territory. For this, it is necessary to establish the peak ground accelerations and estimate their statistical parameters.

VGG Model for Peak Ground Acceleration Prediction

2024 International Conference on Machine Intelligence and Smart Innovation (ICMISI)
Many studies on the topic of earthquake early warning systems (EEWS) have been proposed over the past ten years. Deep learning techniques can be used to determine peak ground acceleration (PGA). Earthquake catalogs are very important in that they contain

Development of NGA-Sub ground-motion prediction equation of 5%-damped pseudo-spectral acceleration based on database of subduction earthquakes in Japan

Earthquake spectra, 2022
We developed an empirical ground-motion model for subduction earthquakes in Japan. The model is based on the extensive, comprehensive subduction database for Japan by the Pacific Earthquake Engineering Research Center.
