Peak Ground Velocity Sensitive Deformation Demands and a Rapid Damage Assessment Approach
2003The effect of peak ground velocity (PCV) on the maximum inelastic deformation demand of simple, non-degrading structural systems is studied. Ground motion data sets are assembled for pre-defined ranges of PCV and they are used to conduct nonlinear response history analysis of single-degree-of-freedom (SDOF) systems.

Proceedings, 2018North Sulawesi's activities are mostly done by triple junction between Eurasian, Philippine and Pacific plates causing seismic activity in the north Sulawesi region. In addition to PGA data there is also one parameter that can be used to characterize the ground response during a earthquake that is PGV (peak ground velocity).

Near-Fault Peak Ground Velocity from Earthquake and Laboratory Data
Bulletin of the Seismological Society of America, 2007We test the hypothesis that peak ground velocity (pgv) has an upper bound independent of earthquake magnitude and that this bound is controlled primarily by the strength of the seismogenic crust. The highest pgvs, ranging up to several meters per second, have been measured at sites within a few kilometers of the causative faults.
