Using of the Moore-Penrose Inverse Matrix in Image Restoration [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
A method for digital image restoration, based on the Moore- Penrose inverse matrix, has many practical applications. We apply the method to remove blur in an image caused by uniform linear motion. This method assumes that linear motion corresponds to an

High‐Temperature Nanoindentation of Metals: Assessing Thermal Drift, Frame Compliance, and Chemical Composition Effects on the Reported Mechanical Properties

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Do not let thermal drift and instrument artifacts deceive high‐temperature nanoindentation results. We compare classical Oliver–Pharr and automatic image recognition analyses across steels and a Ni alloy to quantify these effects. Accounting for artifacts reveals systematic softening with temperature, while Cr and Ni additions boost resistance ...

Bioinspired Shape‐Memory Hook Fasteners With Programmable Interlocking and Silent Release

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Bioinspired hook fasteners made from epoxy shape‐memory polymers are shown to switch between strong, secure attachment and gentle, silent release when heated. By combining programmable geometry and material response, these adaptive fasteners outperform commercial systems in strength and noise control, enabling new solutions for robotics, medical ...

In Situ Micromechanical Study of Bimodal γ′–γ″ Precipitate Assemblies in Ni–Cr–Al–Nb Superalloy

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A Ni–Cr–Al–Nb superalloy with a bimodal γ′–γ″ precipitate distribution is developed. Composite precipitate assemblies form through heterogeneous nucleation, effectively impeding dislocation motion. Micropillar compression reveals high strength at room and elevated temperatures, governed by precipitate shearing, with coupled faulting mechanisms ...

RETRACTED ARTICLE: Non-sample fuzzy based convolutional neural network model for noise artifact in biomedical images

open access: yesDiscover Applied Sciences
The use of a light-weight deep learning Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) augmented with the power of Fuzzy Non-Sample Shearlet Transformation (FNSST) has successfully solved the problem of reducing noise and artifacts in Low-Dose Computed Tomography ...

Compressive Sampling Orthogonal Matching Pursuit Algorithm Based on Peak Signal to Noise Ratio

open access: yesInternational Journal of Future Generation Communication and Networking, 2016
In order to improve signal reconstruction accuracy, a CoSaMP (Compressive Sampling Matching Pursuit) algorithm based on peak signal to noise ratio is proposed in allusion to the disadvantages of CoSaMP algorithm. Firstly, the discrete cosine wave transform is improved to initially estimate the signal sparseness; secondly, the optimum iteration number ...

Low SNR Capacity of Noncoherent Fading Channels

open access: yes, 2007
Discrete-time Rayleigh fading single-input single-output (SISO) and multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) channels are considered, with no channel state information at the transmitter or the receiver. The fading is assumed to be stationary and correlated

Encyclopedia of 2D β′‐In2Se3 Growth Using Chemical Vapor Deposition: The Effects of Synthesis Parameters Onto Material Quality

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A distinct semi‐confined inner‐tube chemical vapor deposition geometry enables reproducible, large‐area growth of phase‐pure 2D β′‐In2Se3 from InI + Se precursors. Engineering local vapor transport and optimizing precursor delivery and temperature–time conditions yield uniform continuous films.

The Area Signal-to-Noise Ratio: A Robust Alternative to Peak-Based SNR in Spectroscopic Analysis

open access: yes
In spectroscopic analysis, the peak-based signal-to-noise ratio (pSNR) is commonly used but suffers from limitations such as sensitivity to noise spikes and reduced effectiveness for broader peaks. We introduce the area-based signal-to-noise ratio (aSNR) as a robust alternative that integrates the signal over a defined region of interest, reducing ...
