Sustainable Synthesis of Bio‐Based Magnetic and Conductive Wood for Electromagnetic Interference Shielding Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A wood‐based magnetic and conductive material called Magwood (MW), capable of blocking almost 99.99% of electromagnetic waves (in the X‐band frequency range), is synthesized using a simple, solvent‐free process. MW is lightweight, resists water, and is flame‐retardant, making it a promising alternative for shielding electronics. The rapid proliferation

Detection of ultra-high resonance contrast in vapor cell atomic clocks

open access: yes, 2012
We propose and demonstrate a novel detection scheme of clock signals and obtain an ultra-high resonance contrast above 90%. The precision of the signal's detection and the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of atomic clock signal is improved remarkably.

Influence of an Argon/Silane Atmosphere on the Temperature of a Thermal Plasma

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The influence of a silane‐doped argon atmosphere on the chemical composition and temperature of a thermal nontransferring argon plasma is investigated using optical emission spectroscopy. As a result of the high amount of free electrons resulting from the stepwise ionization and dissociation of the silane molecule, even a silane addition of 0.01 vol ...

Probabilistic Non-Local Means

open access: yes, 2013
In this paper, we propose a so-called probabilistic non-local means (PNLM) method for image denoising. Our main contributions are: 1) we point out defects of the weight function used in the classic NLM; 2) we successfully derive all theoretical ...

Engineering Deformation and Failure in Diamond Triply Periodic Minimal Surface Lattices via 3D Wall‐Thickness Grading

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The work demonstrates that strategic wall‐thickness grading in diamond triply periodic minimal surface lattices enables precise tuning of deformation and failure behavior under compression. Different gradation patterns guide how and where the structure collapses, improving energy absorption or promoting controlled brittle failure.

RETRACTED ARTICLE: Non-sample fuzzy based convolutional neural network model for noise artifact in biomedical images

open access: yesDiscover Applied Sciences
The use of a light-weight deep learning Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) augmented with the power of Fuzzy Non-Sample Shearlet Transformation (FNSST) has successfully solved the problem of reducing noise and artifacts in Low-Dose Computed Tomography ...

Thin Sectioning Improves the Peak Intensity and Signal-to-Noise Ratio in Direct Tissue Mass Spectrometry

open access: yesJournal of the Mass Spectrometry Society of Japan, 2006
Direct tissue analysis and imaging using mass spectrometry can extract a mass of information directly from complex biological samples. To carry out successful profiling and mapping of biomolecules, though, techniques for correct sample preparation are required. This article focuses on the influences of tissue thickness on mass spectra.

3D‐Printed Serial Snap‐Through Architectures for Programmable Mechanical Response

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A serial snap‐through architecture is realized using compact 3D‐printed von Mises truss units arranged in a staged cascade. Their geometry and boundary conditions program multistage mechanical responses with plateaux and re‐hardening regimes. An inverted‐compliance model predicts these behaviors and enables analytical design of programmable force ...

Transmit power imbalance reduction method and nonlinear companding transform for beamforming OFDM systems

open access: yesICT Express, 2019
Due to large peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR) at the time domain OFDM signal, various peak signal reduction methods for OFDM systems have been proposed.
