Model for the techno-economic analysis of common work of wind power and CCGT power plant to offer constant level of power in the electricity market

open access: yesE3S Web of Conferences, 2017
Wind power varies over time, mainly under the influence of meteorological fluctuations. The variations occur on all time scales. Understanding these variations and their predictability is of key importance for the integration and optimal utilization of ...

The Capacity Factor of Renewable Energy Power Plants During Electric Power Peak Times in Jeju Island

open access: yesAdvances in Science, Technology and Engineering Systems Journal, 2019
We estimated the capacity factor (CF) of renewable energy (RE) (wind + solar) in Jeju Island of South Korea. The effect of renewable energies on power systems has been increasing due to the continuous spread of wind and solar generators. Wind and solar energy recourses are more variable than the other RE ones.

Spatial biology in cancer epigenetics

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Spatial epigenomics combines molecular profiling with tissue architecture to reveal how gene regulation is organized within intact tissues. In cancer, these technologies uncover the mechanisms driving tumor heterogeneity and microenvironmental interactions, opening new opportunities for biomarker discovery and precision medicine.

Quantifying the increasing sensitivity of power systems to climate variability

open access: yesEnvironmental Research Letters, 2016
Large quantities of weather-dependent renewable energy generation are expected in power systems under climate change mitigation policies, yet little attention has been given to the impact of long term climate variability.

Cancer cell‐intrinsic type 1 interferon: production, signaling, and outcomes within sex‐biased, female malignancies

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The cell‐autonomous roles of interferon type 1 vary based on duration and intensity. While acute, robust signaling results in cancer cell cytotoxic effects, sustained, low‐level signaling is associated with tumor‐promoting effects. This review summarizes current research of IFN‐1 in cancer and within the clinical setting, with an emphasis on female ...

Uncertainty-output virtual power plant participates in multi-electricity market considering the improved Shapley value distribution method

open access: yesInternational Journal of Electrical Power & Energy Systems
The trading mechanism for virtual power plants to participate in the electricity market is imperfect, accompanied by uncertain output of distributed energy resources, and has difficulty in achieving reasonable profit distribution.

PEAK PLANT MODELS IN THE ELECTRIC POWER SYSTEM MODEL OF RELIABILITY AND AVAILABILITY

open access: yesJournal of Energy : Energija, 2020
The work sets out the results of the theory/methodological refinement of models whereby peak generating plants are included in the reliability and availability patterns of electricity systems while operational planning operations are taking place. Account shall be taken of the technical and energy characteristics of such generating units, as well as of

Polarization‐resolved femtosecond Vis/IR spectroscopy tailored for resolving weak signals in biological samples using minimal sample volume

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Unique biological samples, such as site‐specific mutant proteins, are available only in limited quantities. Here, we present a polarization‐resolved transient infrared spectroscopy setup with referencing to improve signal‐to‐noise tailored towards tracing small signals. We provide an overview of characterizing the excitation conditions for polarization‐

Particle tower technology applied to metallurgic plants and peak-time boosting of steam power plants [PDF]

open access: yesAIP Conference Proceedings, 2016
Using solar tower technology with ceramic particles as heat transfer and storage medium to preheat scrap for induction furnaces in foundries provides solar generated heat to save electricity. With such a system an unsubsidized payback time of only 4 years is achieved for a 70000t/a foundry in Brazil.
