Aminopeptidases of pea [PDF]

open access: yesBiochemical Journal, 1974
Studies of crude extracts of pea seeds (Pisum sativum, var. Green feast) revealed the presence of three enzymes that hydrolyse the amide bond of aminoacyl β-naphthylamides. They differ in their specificity towards the aminoacyl moiety; one is proline-specific, whereas the other two hydrolyse the β-naphthylamides of primary amino acids.

Harnessing the Interfacial Activity of Soluble Faba Protein‐Tannic Acid Conjugates for Enhanced Lipid Oxidative Stability of Oil‐in‐Water Emulsions

open access: yesJournal of the American Oil Chemists' Society, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT In oil‐in‐water emulsions, lipid oxidation begins at the interface between the two phases. One strategy to slow down this process is to place antioxidants at the interface, where they can directly block oxidative reactions. This study explored that idea by conjugating soluble faba bean protein with tannic acid using the free‐radical grafting ...

Bestimmung der N-Fixierung unterschiedlicher Wintererbsengenotypen im Vergleich zu einer Sommererbse in Rein- und Gemengesaat [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
In organic farming the cultivation of leguminous crops is one of the most important sources of nitrogen (N). However, regarding the amount of N fixed, there are hardly any published data for winter peas.

Aquafaba (Chickpea Cooking Water) as a Natural Emulsifier in the Development of Plant‐Based Coffee Whitener

open access: yesJournal of the American Oil Chemists' Society, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT In this study, the possibility of using aquafaba powder, derived from chickpea cooking water, as a natural emulsifier in the formulation of plant‐based coffee whitener was evaluated. For this purpose, coffee whiteners, which are emulsion type products, are obtained by high‐shear mixing followed by high‐pressure homogenization of the aqueous ...

Green Pea Galaxies Reveal Secrets of Ly$\alpha$ Escape

open access: yes, 2016
We analyze archival Ly$\alpha$ spectra of 12 "Green Pea" galaxies observed with the Hubble Space Telescope, model their Ly$\alpha$ profiles with radiative transfer models, and explore the dependence of Ly$\alpha$ escape fraction on various properties ...

Detecting cryptic ghost lineage introgression in four‐taxon genomic datasets

open access: yesApplications in Plant Sciences, EarlyView.
Abstract Premise Hybridization and introgression are pervasive evolutionary forces that have played fundamental roles in shaping the diversity of wild and domesticated plants. Four‐taxon tests for introgression provide a reliable framework for detecting signatures of ancient introgression from genomic data, which have played an important role in ...

Field peas as a protein source for high-production dairy cows on grass silage and hay based feeding

open access: yesAgricultural and Food Science, 1981
Twenty-four dairy cows with high milk yields were used in an experiment in which peas and soybean meal were compared for feeding value, when given as protein sources in grass silage and hay based feeding.

The reaction of pea’s plants pro-antioxidant system on biostimulants stimpo and regoplant treatment [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Peas (Pisum sativum L.) are one of the main leguminous plants grown in Ukraine. The sown square of peas is 0,3 min. ha and 25% of them is in stepp. Peas are very light-, water- and soil-demanding culture, that’s why not realize its genetic productivity ...

Ly$\alpha$ emission from Green Peas: the role of circumgalactic gas density, covering, and kinematics

open access: yes, 2015
We report Hubble Space Telescope/Cosmic Origins Spectrograph observations of the Ly$\alpha$ emission and interstellar absorption lines in a sample of ten star-forming galaxies at $z\sim0.2$. Selected on the basis of high equivalent width optical emission

Real‐time monitoring of root dielectric properties for assessing crop plant damage caused by foliar application of glyphosate

open access: yesApplications in Plant Sciences, EarlyView.
Abstract Premise There is a knowledge gap regarding how foliar injury and restricted water uptake can be detected by measuring root dielectric response. This pot study nondestructively evaluated the efficiency of real‐time dielectric measurement to monitor the effects of glyphosate spraying.
