The concentration of indole-3-acetic acid was measured in a low-moor peat, a high-moor peat, moorshes with a different degree of decomposition, and commercial substrates used for horticulture and pomology. In addition, the amount of IAA was determined in sapropels and in soils treated with different types of fertilizers.

Abstract Peat treated with polymeric flocculants dewaters much faster than untreated peat. The flocculants decrease the number of suspended particles and a more porous bed structure is formed. The consumption of cationic polyelectrolytes mainly depends on the charge density of the polymer and on the pH of the peat (i.e. its surface potential).

The release of nitrogen and sulphur compounds in peat pyrolysis was investigated between 300 and 700 °C. Seven peats with different nitrogen and sulphur contents (N:0.8729 %. S: 0.08—0.24 %) were studied. The pyrolysis was studied indirectly by following the elemental composition and the structure of the char residue.
