The deceleration parameter in perturbed Bianchi universes with a peculiar-velocity “tilt”

open access: yesEuropean Physical Journal C: Particles and Fields
Bianchi cosmologies are “natural” anisotropic extensions of the Friedmann universes and they have long been used to investigate the cosmological implications of anisotropy.

Correspondence between de Saint-Venant and Boussinesq 5: Viscosity and hydraulic resistance

open access: yesComptes Rendus. Mécanique, 2021
Fluid viscosity is a main feature of fluids; an inviscid fluid does not exist even though a large number of theories has been advanced for flows of such fluids. The velocity of fluid flow may considerably be reduced due to the presence of fluid viscosity

PYCR1 inhibition in bone marrow stromal cells enhances bortezomib sensitivity in multiple myeloma cells by altering their metabolism

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study investigated how PYCR1 inhibition in bone marrow stromal cells (BMSCs) indirectly affects multiple myeloma (MM) cell metabolism and viability. Culturing MM cells in conditioned medium from PYCR1‐silenced BMSCs impaired oxidative phosphorylation and increased sensitivity to bortezomib.

Statistics of peculiar velocities from cosmic strings [PDF]

open access: yesMonthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society, 1995
We calculate the probability distribution of a single component of peculiar velocities due to cosmic strings, smoothed over regions with a radius of several $h^{-1}$ Mpc. The probability distribution is shown to be Gaussian to good accuracy, in agreement with the distribution of peculiar velocities deduced from the 1.9 Jy IRAS redshift survey.

Predictors of response and rational combinations for the novel MCL‐1 inhibitor MIK665 in acute myeloid leukemia

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study characterizes the responses of primary acute myeloid leukemia (AML) patient samples to the MCL‐1 inhibitor MIK665. The results revealed that monocytic differentiation is associated with MIK665 sensitivity. Conversely, elevated ABCB1 expression is a potential biomarker of resistance to the treatment, which can be overcome by the combination ...

Dynamical Structure of NGC 4486 [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Astronomy and Space Sciences, 1987
The peculiar elliptical (EOp) galaxy NGC 4486 and two KOII comparison stars HR5450, HR6935 were observed spectroscopically using the 74-inch telescope and Image Tube at Mt. Stomlo Observatory.

Fractal Method for Modeling the Peculiar Dynamics of Transient Carbon Plasma Generated by Excimer Laser Ablation in Vacuum

open access: yesComplexity, 2018
Carbon plasmas generated by excimer laser ablation are often applied for deposition (in vacuum or under controlled atmosphere) of high-technological interest nanostructures and thin films.

Developing evidence‐based, cost‐effective P4 cancer medicine for driving innovation in prevention, therapeutics, patient care and reducing healthcare inequalities

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The cancer problem is increasing globally with projections up to the year 2050 showing unfavourable outcomes in terms of incidence and cancer‐related deaths. The main challenges are prevention, improved therapeutics resulting in increased cure rates and enhanced health‐related quality of life.

LDAcoop: Integrating non‐linear population dynamics into the analysis of clonogenic growth in vitro

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Limiting dilution assays (LDAs) quantify clonogenic growth by seeding serial dilutions of cells and scoring wells for colony formation. The fraction of negative wells is plotted against cells seeded and analyzed using the non‐linear modeling of LDAcoop.
