Characterization of retinal pigment epithelium layer in healthy and diseased retinas with high‐resolution adaptive optics transscleral flood illumination imaging

open access: yesActa Ophthalmologica, EarlyView.
Abstract Purpose The retinal pigment epithelium (RPE) is critical in the pathophysiology of retinal diseases, such as age‐related macular degeneration. Adaptive optics transscleral flood illumination (AO‐TFI) offers rapid, detailed morphometric characterization of the RPE layer.

Problems for Vulnerable Road Users in Great Britain, The Netherlands and Sweden [PDF]

open access: yes, 1989
INTRODUCTION In many countries in Europe pedal cycle and pedestrian travel are important transport modes for the population. However, given the vulnerable nature of these modes of transport, the number of accidents involving pedestrians and cyclists ...

The prechoroidal cleft in neovascular age‐related macular degeneration

open access: yesActa Ophthalmologica, EarlyView.
Abstract The prechoroidal cleft is a lenticular, hypo‐reflective space on optical coherence tomography imaging, located between a band of fibrovascular material underneath the retinal pigment epithelium (RPE) and Bruch's membrane. It occurs in 8%–22% of neovascular age‐related macular degeneration (nAMD) eyes, most often with macular neovascularization

Topical timolol for small infantile hemangioma: a new therapy option

open access: yesThe Turkish Journal of Pediatrics, 2012
The main characteristic of infantile hemangioma is that it grows rapidly after birth and mostly regresses spontaneously. It is a common practice for only a small part of the hemangioma to be treated, as they can be extremely disfiguring and ...

Soil wetting and drying processes influence stone artefact distribution in clay‐rich soils: A case study from Middle Gidley Island in Murujuga, northwest Western Australia

open access: yesArchaeometry, EarlyView.
Abstract Soils that contain swelling clay minerals (e.g., montmorillonite) expand and contract during wetting and drying, causing movement within the soil profile. This process, known as argilliturbation, can alter artefact distributions, destroy stratigraphy and complicate the interpretation of archaeological deposits.

Analysis of OCT predictors of anatomical and functional results of anti-VEGF therapy of pigment epithelium detachment in neovascular age-related macular degeneration

open access: yesОфтальмохирургия
Purpose. Analysis of optical coherence tomography (OCT) biomarkers for anatomical results prediction of anti-angiogenic therapy (anti-VEGF) of pigment epithelial detachments (PED) in neovascular macular degeneration (n-AMD). Material and methods. Primary

Early Detection of Lower Adherence to Long‐Term e‐Diary Recording: A Checkpoint to Target Early Educational Intervention in Seasonal Allergic Rhinitis?

open access: yesClinical &Experimental Allergy, EarlyView.
Adherence to e‐Diary reporting was investigated in a blended care setting among pollen allergic patients with heterogeneous cultural backgrounds. A stable ‘higher’ and a more variable ‘lower’ adherence cluster were identified. Early identification of lower adherence is possible and might inform early interventions to improve patient adherence. ABSTRACT

Visual Function Assessment in Geographic Atrophy: A Review

open access: yesClinical &Experimental Ophthalmology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Geographic atrophy (GA) causes significant vision impairment and reduction in vision‐related quality of life. Fundus autofluorescence (FAF) is the gold standard of structural assessment of GA but is a surrogate marker for vision loss, which can be assessed by tests of visual function and functional vision.
