Dependence of pedestal performance on the characteristics of the H-mode pedestal

Given the small level of residual transport within the edge pedestal of H-mode tokamak plasmas, even low levels of additional transport within this region (e.g. due to ripple losses of thermal ions or edge ergodization) can have a significant effect on pedestal performance.

They are also equipped with an ordinary electrical receptacle so they may be plugged in to a pedestal when not being used to make a survey.
