Energy harvesting from vehicular traffic over speed bumps: A review [PDF]
Energy used by vehicles to slow down in areas of limited speed is wasted. A traffic energy-harvesting device (TEHD) is capable of harvesting vehicle energy when passing over a speed bump. This paper presents a classification of the different technologies

A Mussel‐Inspired Bioadhesive Patch to Selectively Kill Glioblastoma Cells
An innovative mussel‐inspired bioadhesive patch has been developed for post‐surgical glioblastoma treatment. The patch, which adheres strongly in biological environments, releases a localized treatment. This treatment, acting via reactive oxygen species, shows specific toxicity to glioblastoma cells.

Study of pedestrian-induced vibrations on timber footbridges
In Brazil, studies about pedestrian-induced vibrations on footbridges have been carried out since the early 1990s, for concrete and steel footbridges. However, there is no record of such studies and the Brazilian Standard NBR 7190 (1997) for the design ...

Deformation Driven Suction Cups: A Mechanics‐Based Approach to Wearable Electronics
Deformation‐driven suction cups enable robust, reversible adhesion of wearable electronics to human skin spanning wide mechanical compliance, without adhesives or tight straps. By integrating mechanics modeling, experiments, and contact mechanics theory, this work reveals how cup geometry, substrate compliance, and interfacial adhesion govern suction ...

Optimal actuator design for control of vibrations induced by pedestrian-bridge interactions
In this paper, we are interested in finding an optimal control support design for controlling vibrations due to pedestrian-bridge interactions. Therefore, we derive the topological derivatives of the proposed functionals using the averaged adjoint ...

Catechol Derivative‐Based Bioadhesives: Molecular Design for Precision Medical Adhesion
This study utilizes tree‐inspired side‐chain engineering to graft five catechol derivatives onto PVA, systematically revealing how side‐chain length and substituents regulate adhesion and cohesion properties. Among them, the PVA‐CA patch demonstrates superior tissue adhesion, biocompatibility, and promotes regeneration, establishing a programmable ...
