The Effect of Pedicle Morphometry on Pedicle Screw Loading
Spine, 1997Static nondestructive bending analysis of pedicle screws inserted into vertebral analogues was conducted. Pedicle screw bending load was studied as a function of pedicle morphometry. To determine how sagittal bending moment in pedicle screws is affected by changes in pedicle height, length, and width. An unexpectedly high rate of clinical failure has ...

Accordion-style pedicle suspension in inferocentral pedicled mammoplasty
Journal of Plastic Surgery and Hand Surgery, 2016In breast reduction surgery, while the primary objective may appear to be decreasing the breast volume, the ultimate goal is to achieve symmetrical, appealing, and sustainable breast cosmesis. To circumvent late-term ptosis following inferior pedicle mammoplasty, methods such as pedicle suspension to the ribs, support with dermal flaps and grafts, and ...

Pedicle subtraction osteotomy (PSO) is an effective tool for the correction of fixed sagittal plane deformity. However, there is potentially significant perioperative morbidity associated with this technique. We report our perioperative morbidity rate in recently performed PSO cases treated with our present surgical, anesthetic, and monitoring ...

Performing each step is crucial to a high rate of accuracy, and this begins with preoperative assessment of the pedicle anatomy. At a minimum, plain radiographs are reviewed to determine the morphology of the pedicle, and advanced imaging such as computerized tomography (CT) or magnetic resonance imaging can also be of value. Meticulous exposure of the

The pedicle in neurofibromatosis
American Journal of Roentgenology, 1978Three cases of von Recklinghausen's disease (neurofibromatosis) are described, one with agenesis of a pedicle, another with multiple hypoplastic pedicles, and a third with bilateral hypoplastic pedicles producing a spondylolistesis. These peidcle deficiencies are manifestations of mesodermal dysplasia.

Described in this study is a surgical concept that supports the "consider and use a pedicled perforator flap whenever possible and indicated" approach to reconstruct a particular skin defect. The operation is entirely free-style; the only principle is to obtain a pedicled perforator flap to reconstruct the defect. The perforators are marked with a hand-

The subaxillary fasciocutaneous flap is a new pedicled flap designed and developed by us for resurfacing defects on the dorsum of the hand, thumb, fingers and web-spaces. The lack of mobility and inability of the patient to dress properly during transfer of a groin or hypogastric flap prompted us to develop this flap which is based on the direct ...

Fontan with pedicled pericardium
The Japanese Journal of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery, 1999Pedicled pericardium is a useful viable material for cardiac surgery. In an adolescent case, the extracardiac lateral tunnel of a Fontan connection was successfully constructed with pedicled pericardium. This procedure is expected to allow the growth of the tunnel and to need no anti-coagulant therapy, while careful long-term follow-up is necessary.

Tuberculosis of the Vertebral Pedicles
Radiology, 1971A form of skeletal tuberculosis in children and adults, arising from a focus or foci in the vertebral pedic1es, is described. This form of Pott's disease may be unilateral or bilateral and may be isolated or present at multiple levels. Disk space changes and deformity are minor features, but large paravertebral abscesses are invariable.
