SINE Insertion in LAMA3 in Dogs With Junctional Epidermolysis Bullosa
ABSTRACT Junctional epidermolysis bullosa (JEB) is a hereditary skin disorder caused by defects in proteins responsible for dermal‐epidermal adhesion. We investigated the genetic cause of JEB in three related mixed‐breed puppies presenting with congenital skin blistering and ulceration. Whole‐genome sequencing of one affected dog followed by comparison

ABSTRACT A previous genome‐wide association study identified regions on canine chromosome (cfa) 13 and 14 associated with early onset myxomatous mitral valve disease (MMVD) in Cavalier King Charles Spaniels (CKCS). In the present study, whole genome sequencing (WGS) of 9 CKCS cases (mitral regurgitation (MR) before 4.5 years or congestive heart failure

ABSTRACT The absence of horns (polled trait) in cattle is associated with better animal welfare by reducing the need for dehorning. In Brahman cattle, population size and the scarcity of phenotypic records challenge the accuracy of genomic predictions for this trait.

ABSTRACT Background Bitter taste receptors (T2Rs) function in the innate immune defense of the sinonasal mucosa; however, the genetic association between the TAS2R gene family and chronic rhinosinusitis (CRS) remains understudied in Asian populations.

The costs of extra‐pair behaviours in birds
ABSTRACT Extra‐pair behaviours – reproductive behaviours, including those related to copulation and paternity of offspring, amongst animals outside of a social pair bond – have long intrigued behavioural ecologists, particularly from the female animal's perspective.

A comparison of behavioral observations with genetic analyses of the Hawaiian Stilt on Molokaʻi revealed some evidence of conspecific parasitism, potential extra‐pair paternity, and inbreeding, although most observed family groups clustered together genetically, suggesting these alternative tactics may be relatively rare.

Genomics Reveal Population Crash and Range Contraction in Elusive Fijian Hylaeus Bees
We used a novel paired low‐lying and canopy sampling technique with genomic data to assess the recently discovered canopy‐specialist Fijian Hylaeus bee clade. We found major (~99%) declines in population size since European colonisation, limited contemporary distributions and inter‐island genetic structuring.

Rhabdophis nuchalis populations from four regions were analyzed using genome resequencing. The results showed that the Sichuan and Yunnan populations formed one cluster, while the Hubei and Shaanxi populations formed another. The Yunnan population displayed the highest genetic diversity.

We studied the genetics of the Five‐finger fish across the remote islands of Tristan da Cunha using mitochondrial DNA and microsatellites. mtDNA revealed four genetic clades, three of which were polyphyletic with congeners, and one potentially unique to Tristan da Cunha, suggesting current species classifications may be inaccurate.

Abstract Mistletoes, recognized as keystone species, supply diverse floral and fruit resources for birds, thereby facilitating mutualistic interactions in pollination and seed dispersal. Some avian species are “double mutualists,” engaging in both functions. However, their precise roles and effectiveness as mutualists remain inadequately understood. In
