Evaluation of Pedometer Interfaces for Mobile Apps
AHFE International, 2023The use of mobile health apps has been on the rise, as they allow people to get their health information more conveniently. Many people are using their mobile health apps to track their health status (KC et al., 2021), but there are known issues with people being unable to use their health apps effectively due to poor design.

A portable pedometer based on inductive proximity
2012 15th International IEEE Conference on Intelligent Transportation Systems, 2012This paper presents a new pedometer which requires, practically, no user depended calibration. This new scheme is based on an inductive proximity sensing principle. The proposed pedometer consists of two modules, to be installed one in each shoe. These modules can be easily integrated, by the user, into commercially available shoes.

Accelerometers and pedometers: methodology and clinical application
Current Opinion in Clinical Nutrition and Metabolic Care, 2007The relationship between physical activity and health varies considerably, partly due to the difficulty of assessing physical activity accurately. This review examines recent literature on the validation of movement sensors to assess habitual physical activity.
