Characterizing Habitat Suitability of Long‐Finned Pilot Whales in a Key Conservation Region of the Southern Iberian Peninsula Using Satellite Tracking Data

open access: yesMarine Mammal Science, Volume 42, Issue 4, October 2026.
ABSTRACT The waters surrounding the southern Iberian Peninsula are a key conservation area for the long‐finned pilot whale (Globicephala melas melas), particularly in the pelagic regions of the Strait of Gibraltar, the Alboran Sea, and the Gulf of Vera, where upwelling, complex bathymetry and frontal dynamics enhance productivity and prey availability,

Are novel and co‐xenic associations common in alien fungal and fungus‐like plant pathogens?

open access: yesNew Phytologist, Volume 252, Issue 2, Page 843-860, October 2026.
Possible scenarios for plant–pathogen associations during invasion. An introduced plant may occur in a new area without its pathogen (enemy release) or together with its pathogen (co‐introduction). The presence of the alien plant (in red) and its co‐introduced pathogen (in dark red) can result in pathogen spillover to co‐occurring plants. Host jumps to

Structural response of steel girders with diagonal stiffeners under shear

open access: yesce/papers, Volume 9, Issue 2-3, Page 2163-2168, September 2026.
Abstract Steel I‐girders stiffened with diagonal stiffeners represent a structurally efficient solution for improving shear performance in bridge applications. These stiffeners, positioned along the compression diagonal of the web, significantly enhance both buckling resistance and ultimate shear capacity.

Exploiting the B–N/C–C Isosterism Yields Nile‐Red Inspired Organoboron Dyes Capable of Singlet‐Oxygen Photosensitization

open access: yesChemistryEurope, Volume 4, Issue 9, September 2026.
B─N bridged Nile Red derivatives: B─N/C─C isosterism enables a new class of Nile Red (NR) derivatives featuring a B─N linkage connecting both the western and eastern fragments of NR. The resulting NR‐inspired boronic acid‐derived salicylidenehydrazone (NR‐BASHY) complexes showcase promising photophysical properties, targeted bioimaging capability, and ...
